Yessir! I got my grain sacks from Northern Brewer the other day. I am going to try to reproduce what I call a prohibition style ale but with a little higher gravity. 8# pale 6 row, 3# corn, 1.5# honey. Should be around 6.25% when its done. I'm also toying around with the idea of adding a couple pounds of rice also. Not going to be really hoppy, I'm aiming for around 45IUB or so. Going to use Cascade and Crystal hops. After that, the sky's the limit. Since I build my ghetto mash tun, I'm doing all grain at home now. I'm on the hunt for a few more buckets and another carboy or two then I'm all set! Anyone have buckets or carboys they want rid of????
ETA: Just for the record, I plugged in the recipe in promash at my friends house and compared the calculators on that site. They are SPOT ON! |

unless there is a style you are going after .. I would HIGHLY recommend 2 row over 6 row ... 2 row delivers a much superior malt flavor.
anyways .. congrats on the grain buy .. stop off at the MW forums sometime .. LINK .. there is a ton of knowledgeable brewers there (myself included! |

2 row won't have enough enzymes to convert that much corn. That's why I gotta use 6 row. BUT, I have a 50# sack of each Thanks for the link, I'm definitely gonna check it out. I keep having ideas of new stuff to brew now that I can do all grain at home. The possibilities are endless. |

not local .. but they will get you set up with the proper food grade plastic buckets to be used as fermenters. |
