Looking sharp, I'm assuming this is the upper you got today at Gunwurx?

Hey Adam, you marrying the chick or the cat?

Why the 1.93 mount?  How is the cheek weld?

HAHA unfortunately it's a package deal!

yes, this is one i had Gunwurx build for me

The cheek weld isn't bad surprisingly, i may end up throwing a PRS on it, we'll see.  I got the 1.93 because the regular SPR won't clear a folding Troy Industry Battle Sight Night Sight BUIS, the magpul buis will be replaced by those when the Troy come in.

+1 as to why the extra-tall mount.

You're gonna like that WOA barrel. I have 2 and they're both great shooters.

Nice stick!

Looks sweet. Why put a light on a clearly target rifle? I guess I don't get that but whatever....

I look forward to seeing it in the EE thursday

The mount is a Larue Throw Lever, can be remvoed very easily.  He has the backup irons as well for that purpose.  Very nice rifle.

The extra tall mount is because the regular SPR won't clear the Troy Battle sights i have coming in.

The light is because its also my defense currently, It is a 16" midlength barrel and is lightweight under the hand guards, it is very balanced, i love the feel of it. I am thinking about going FDE too with rail panels and furniture but haven't decided yet

Are you sure, or are you taking someone's word for it?

Granted, this is a very quick-n-dirty mock-up with what I had on-hand, but it is measurable.

LaRue Stealth upper
Troy BUIS (non night sight if that makes a difference) with an advertised folded height of 0.460".
LaRue SPR 1.5 mount with 30mm rings & 1" reducers to fit the scope
Bushnell 3200 10X quickly turned around to put larger objective bell above BUIS, OD of objective bell is 1.910"

Is your scope's ocular bell larger than ~2"?  Or perhaps are the Troy BUIS NS taller than the non-NS versions, which I kind of doubt.  Usually when a mfr makes tritium iron sights for an AR15 the tritium inserts are usually only installed into the larger "ghost" peep ring and not into the smaller "precision" peep ring.  And to properly stow away the Troy BUIS you must flip to the "ghost" ring or the sight will not lay flat.

Just a thought in order to help get you a much better cheek weld.

well i'll be damned, and to answer your question i didn't ask someone, i have a American Defense mount that is 1.5 and it just barely doesn't fit with magpul BUIS and i thought it was the same height as the Larue, well shit, maybe i need to order another mount

ETA: then again my MK4 is a 30mm with a sunshade, i wonder if that makes a difference?  I will call Larue tomorrow and ask them, i ordered two mounts, one is still new in the package, maybe i can send it back and get the 1.5

LaRue is good like that.

Nice looking stick.

I've got a Nightforce in a LT104 with Troy BUIS and it's close but there is clearance. I'm thinking it would work with your setup to go to the lower mount.

Reaper, your OPSEC is totally blown now!  Why would you ever post pics of a gun like that?

Seriously, nice configuration, let us know how it shoots.

RANGE UPDATE!

i am absolutely sold on the midlength gas system, it is prefect for a 16" barrel, i sighted it in and 100 yards getting 3" groups (with a few fliers because i suck) shooting off an ammo can (and i can't shoot worth !@#$ compared to some of you ) with PMC 55gr, i need to work up a few reloads and see what this thing can really do.  Shoots VERY smooth and very controllable, i think i've found a keeper! (don't quote me)

I did however have one stoppage out of 170 rounds, i put 20 rounds of 75grain hornady TAP, and on the VERY last round it didn't eject it, it just stayed in the bolt, any one ever have that happen?

If you're going to run 55gn FMJ ammo, try some of the Federal XM193 and see if your accuracy improves over that Korean-made PMC ammo.
5/3/2010 7:02:25 AM EDT
[#18]
For real, I can usually get better accuracy from bulk pack federal 55gr than PMC.

i don't think it was the gun or the ammo, the way i was sitting at the table with just the ammo can for support and in a weird position i was shaking all over the place.  next time i'll bring out my sand bags

Very Nice!!!  I want my next build to look something like that...  Won't be 100% the same, but simmilar in config style I think...

OPSEC?  over a Personal owned gun?

Hmm... me thinks some one takes themself too seriously....

(but what would I know, im just the FNG)

She is pouting because she is holding her Engagement Rifle...

Hmmm.  I didn't exactly get an "engagement rifle".  OTOH, just after my wife an I were married, her dad opened up his gun safe and told us to each pick one for a wedding present.

Speaking of the poor ROI that is a wedding..............

Why do only the brides get to "register" for gifts?  WTF is that all about?  Why can't the guys register, for actual useful items mind you, at places such as MidwayUSA, Brownells, LaRue, CMMG, Denny's/GTS?
