I have been out cutting brush and working around the yard this week. Last night I felt something crawling on me and it was a tick. Just part of living in the country, but I hate ticks, chiggers, and the last few years, buffalo gnats. Not many mosquitoes on our property since we live on a hilltop though. |

Had a guy buy 80 acres from a real estate broker friend of mine about 4 years ago.
He was from the city and wanted a place he could come to and take walks with his dog without him having to be on a leash. When spring came he called my friend in a panic and asked when the ticks would go away. My friend replied, "When the frost comes in the fall." The guy freaks out and tells my friend to immediately re-list the property for sale as he can't stand for the ticks getting on his DOG !

Like Poly says Premethrin is your friend, treat your clothes not you, spray em wet let dry, spray em wet again and it LASTS you can wear those same clothes through a few washings and beat the ticks...
I get the SAWYER brand from Cabelas or the Repel brand from Walmart.... There is also a DRY mix that you mix with water and soak your clothes in it... |

I use the Sawyer's stuff that is similar to this method, only it comes with a bottle ofconsentrated liquid solution in the kit. The kit has the bag, gloves, and the solution. You add your clothes and a few more bottles of water. It's a great value at under $8 for 6 weeks of protection. Ticks and chiggars... I forkin' hate 'em! |

I have 3 Dogs and I have no problems at all. I keep them shaved and give them a monthly treatment and that is it. When my mother came for the 1st time from Germany to visit she was freaked out since Ticks can carry a disease that can be fatal to humans but now she is used to it and does not worry any more. I use a Product that is called Bug Off but I have to try the one you guys are mentioning may be a better solution when working outside. |
