Any opinions or anyone close to KC who would let me finger ur AR with AFG???

I've got a couple ARs for sale and am buying an LWRC M6A3 and thinking about trying an AFG on it.

Of the only reviews I've seen (two) both of the reviewers managed to break the AFG when trying to attach it.

I am sorry but AFG is completely gay, It feels okay on the hand but absolutely silly.  MagPul makes great stuff but this is just getting stupid.

So if it  feels good on the hand, then isn't it doing exactly what it was intended to do? I'm all for function over form so if it works it works. Does it look stupid? Yeah. Does it work, is the question.

I'm not too concerned with a part being "gay" according to someone.

I'm more concerned with function, then durability, then how it looks..................and way down the line what other people think is gay or retarded.

Kinda unfortunate that the AFG is so fragile people are breaking them mounting them to rifles! I haven't found a vertical grip I feel comfortable with, and usually revert back to holding the magwell. Only problem is, I want to be able to hold the weight a little better (further out on the handguard), dont like the grips that look like A2 pistol grips angled down from the handguard, and so far the only other thing I think I may like is a stubby vertical grip for my pinky and ring finger and trying to grip as close to how I grip the magwell now

A Stubby VFG is the way to go, the AFG is not going to work for me.
It stems out of the Magpul Dynamics "Synergy" and blind hero worship....

The biggest issue I have with the AFG is that it doesn't leave me any real estate on that bottom rail on a carbine in the event I want to revert to a caveman grip... (just using the handguards....)

I have one of those. In the beginning I was not sure if I would like it but now I like it a lot. I only have it on one of my Rifles the others have either regular Grip or a short / stubby Grip. I guess it is all depending on what you prefer.

I still want to try one when I get my hands on one.  Another option that sounds like it would work just as well and not take up as much rail space is turning a front hand stop around 180 deg and mounting back on the rail near the magwell.

The problem is grabbing the rail close to the magwell....you lose most of your leverage on the muzzle and therefore you lose fine control of the muzzle for follow up shots.

I'm not sure how people are breaking them. I've got one on one of my ar's and the jury is still out, but the more I use it the more I like it. I don't use a long grip with mine as I've got it as far to rear as it will go and it seems to give me better over all control. I just don't like verticle grips at all.

I'm kind of fond of options...Heres one.

CAA 5 position grip

Best of both worlds...or as close as I've seen.

Edit: spelling

Magpul states the AFG is a theory based product, if you're not using along with the technique it was designed for its probably not going to work well for you.  I have yet to try one, but I will at some point, if I like it I'll get one, if I don't I won't Costa's beard has nothing to do with it.  I don't think its an optimum product for a carbine lenght system, the whole idea is to get your hand farther out and keep the muzzle down and improve target to target transitions, you don't get the leverage on a carbine system, well I suppose toothlessrooster could get proper leverage on a carbine system

I see plenty of "lightly used" AFGs available for sale in the EE if that tells you anything.

I've tried those and didn't like my hand moving so far down from the barrel.

Looks like I have til at least April before my LWRC is here, so plenty of time to try everything out.
