Is it just me or are all these comemerative firearms out there just gawdy as hell?

I just don't see the appeal of something like this......

Link to actual auction.

I can think of two I'd like to have;

a John Wayne Winchester with the big lever

a Doc Holliday revolver

I'm not much for gaudy guns either, but if they're depicting the right thing...

Ok, don't flame too hard, but is an M16 an automatic rifle?

Joe, I think your question is a bit open ended. So, to answer but with some detail. A M16 is a Full automatic weapon. Even when the military issue went to a 3 rnd burst. Some might say that a 3 rnd burst limited it and could no longer be called a "Full Automatic weapon". I think most of us would define a Full Automatic as a weapon that with one long trigger pull will shoot all ammo in the magazine. Where as a semi-automatic is a weapon that will fire just ONE round, eject it, and chamber a new round.

The reason I called your question "open ended" is that you did not make a distinction between "Full" and "Semi".

Did this answer your question? If not come back and we will see if I or someone else can.

Max

P.S. have you ever cranked up the reloading bench?

IIRC, B.F.I. is, was, Bushmaster before they were called Bushmaster.  Not sure if that was before or after Quality Parts.

If you look closely at the documentation, it says M-16, that being said.......................

Obviously, this is NOT a machine gun. there is no auto sear pin showing in the receiver close ups. Also there is no mention of paper work involved in transferring a Title II weapon!

Most likely a "banana clip".

Pretty Sure B.F.I stands for Bushmaster Firearms Incorporated.... So not "Before" Bushmaster" but it is Pre-Snake....

QPC Quality Parts Co, was before the actual "Bushmaster" firearms, when they sold parts kits before they sold receivers...
You won't likely find a Quality Parts Company lower anywhere....

I'd load up a dozen mags with Wolf, throw a UTG quad-rail on it, do some mag dumps and call it good.
