I am piecing together an ar using nothing but the EE. I will continue to post updates throughout as I find pieces. I will literally be building it one pin at a time. Due to funds this build could take a while. If I buy it it will be a sweet deal.

So far I have a
95$ after transfer Doublestar lower reciever
60 dollar DPMS LPK
51$ A2 stock

running total- 206 for complete lower

Plans are either a carbine m4gery or a prec build.
carbine I'm shootin for a CTR, Maid, and 14.5 m4 barrel with phantom FH and either a YHM or MI rail handgaurd doubt i will go standard. Goal 650
prec would be rockin just an A2 stock most likely, 20" barrel with comp, Rifle length FF gaurd with harris 6-9. Goal 825 no optics

I might go 9mm carbine since I just got 3k pieces of brass off the EE for 80 shipped.

I built my wife a nice rifle last fall the same way. I bought the furniture a piece at a time, it was a mix of colors but all got painted a nice lavender per her request.

I ended up with a superior lower for 89.00 and a new dpms LPK for 60.00. I found the CMMG M4 complete upper with an M16 carrier for 370.00!

I swear that thing had barely a brass mark on the deflector and not a knick anywhere else. All told the whole thing came in at 575.00.

The only exception was the detachable carry handle I had sitting in the parts bin from my Free Bushmaster ala team giveaway two years ago.

It is alot harder to find deals in the EE now but if you watch it like a hawk and strike fast it can be done.

Keep us updated.

Although it looks almost blue in the pic it's lavender to match her dayplanner. On the bright side she is all about ammo and mag hording now.

I need to put you watchdogs on retainer to watch the EE for me.  I can't ever find those deals.

The best deals have always been stuff that gets listed after 2300, I work nights and have access to tons of bandwidth. When I am not working I am still a night owl and generally cant sleep.

I willingly admit the upper was pure luck on my part.

Interested to see how you come out!

I started a build recently with the help of a few MOHTF friends, among others...

CMMG lower - $130
RRA LPK - $55
Tapco 6-pos stock (w tube, spring, etc.) - $40
Ergo grip - 0$ (some guy was giving it away on EE!)

Still having a hard time deciding on an upper.  Not sure if I should buy it complete, maybe a different caliber (already have one M4gery)???? Kind of leaning towards a 6.8 upper but I need to do some more research... no rush.

There are always good deals to be found!  I think one of the best I can remember was a Galco Summer Comfort holster I bought for my Sig 239.  The seller was asking $30 shipped, plus a free factory Sig mag to whoever bought the holster.  I ended up paying $30 for the holster, mag, and an OWB Galco holster that he just threw in  I sold the magazine for $33 and basically ended up with two free holsters.. not bad at all!

ETA: KC Gun Trader has some good deals if you keep an eye on it.  Over the weekend I bought 400 factory rounds of .30 Carbine for $100.  I dont think I could reload 400rds of .30 carbine for that price!

Sorry to ramble  Back on topic.

well just had a small kink in plans... the upper has a big crack on the inside so its no longer for sale the guy says it would be unsafe. He sent me a refund. Great seller but now to find another upper

Translation: Seller just found out how much it is worth and will resell it later at a higher price...

possibly but I don't think so. There were people ahead of me so if he wanted more money then he woulda just relisted it or not taken my 65. Plus he wasn't a noob so I think he knew market

i keep trying to do this, but always get sidetracked half-way through the build and spend an extra $500 on premium parts.  and then i have a $5 pistol grip left over after the build and use it to justify a whole new build ... that i eventually complete without even using the original grip.  5 more ARs wound up in my safe last year because i decided one day to try to build a single $400 AR using EE.

fortunately though, i learned my lesson after last year and haven't acquired any more ARs in 2009.  (the 5 new AKs in 2009 don't count, do they?)

what the hell, it's summer.  perfect time of the year to attempt to build a sub $500 beater AR pistol for the truck.

Yup just like wire coat hangers... You get a couple when shirts come back from the cleaners, then suddenly one day you open the closet and there is a hundred of them hanging off one another DISGUSTING!!!!

I once saw a 20" molesting an SBR... I had to separate them!

No no no!  Let 'em have at it.  I do, and I even dim the lights and play some gettin'-busy mood music for mine in the hopes that the gunstork will soon bring me more little guns.    Once in a while, if they're feelin' kinda playful, I even give 'em a good rubdown of oil and let their Hedonistic sides take over.

I know I know, but I had some cross breeding going on I think the M1A had its way with one of the little ones and suddenly this sort of extra long AR lower showed up...
