So who went to the Gun Rights Rally and got a gun nut?

I got mine.

[#1]
I got mine!  I felt a little silly handing them out to my reps and sens.  They didn't seem to blink about the nuts.  They came out of session to speak to me I was pretty impressed by their response.  There  were some good speaches given by various dems and repubs.  Seemed all the speakers were concerned about the feds trying to take too much control.  Glad to see they share my concern.

Those of you that brushed this off and didn't come shame on you.  You may as well stop and melt your guns down now.  If you had seen the people down here trying to cement your rights they will probably all die off in the next 10 years. 95% of them are over 65.  Get involved now or you may wake up with a new assualt weapon ban 2.0. .

I know some of you are afraid of being on a list.  Better to speak now while you still can because someday you may lose the right to speak at all.  Let me tell you, you are already on a list.  If you have bought a gun, are a member of this board, subscribe to the NRA your on some kind of list.  Bottom line is as long as we are active in preserving our rights you never have to fear the tinfoil hat list.

No fudds just dislike black guns.  There are some people on this bus that are a hybrid of a mall nija and a fudd combined with obesity.  I saw one idiot showing another idiot how the pen laser he carries can be used with his pistol if he holds it "then you don't have to buy one of them expensive bolt on lasers and its just as good" he says. Damn some people are dumb.

If you're the guy downrange with the red dot dancing on your chest, are you willing to take the chance that his method doesn't work?

(But yes, most times I think there ought to be a general intelligence test given and passed prior to being allowed to own guns, drive cars, voting or running for public office. )

speaking of dumb people, I was on my way home from a meeting monday and as I got off the highway there was  a guy in stopped in the right turn lane, so I thought broke down.  As I pass the car I see a fat dude in sweats and flip-flops trying to coax a coon off the road, it wasn't hit but it wasn't scared either and kept trying to grab the tires of the cars in the other lane, had to be one rabid-ass coon

Wasn't you was it eric?  It was in your neck of the woods , well it couldn't have been you, you brew the beer and mow the lawn with the glock, you probably would've shot the thing

I do NOT wear flip-flops outside of the house.  EVER!!!!

However, I have been "that old guy" who is seen mowing the yard in shorts with tall dark socks.

That's funny how you first started with a call for unity and brotherhood and then proceeded to trash some of those who put in their time to go to the rally.  I guess only skinny guys should show up next time?

There will always be a few goobs in any group.

I guess I was also venting as I sat behind the guy that was showing off his tactical pen laser.  This was the same goob that bragged about telling some intern in a gruff voice to get So and SO rep in here because I Pay his bills, HE works for me. He then goes on in the story to tell about all the other things he said in that convo. They were in session dumb fuck.  I was lucky enough that mine came out.  This guy made an ass out of himself or at least in the puffed up chest bumping story he told he did.  I'm thinking fucking great this is giving us a great name.  He is also talking to a security guard in one of his stories talking about how they need to run things around there, goes on and on about the things they should be doing.  Proceeds to say the security guard started getting short with him.  Fuck I probably would have too ass hole..........

So yes on the bus I was venting  about the dumb fuck in front of me.  I guess I want to have my cake and eat it to.  I don't want idiots who give gun owners a bad name running around telling off people in the state capital.

I wear sandals at the range and there are plenty of picts here to prove it! Of course the only time I helped a coon off the road was by just tapping him with the edge of my tire

And yes, Ryans sux the big one as a restaurant....

I ADDED my name to the list in the governor's office. I am somewhat concerned about the possibilities of what this may trigger down the road, but I'm also concerned about what is down the road if we don't get personally, and even somewhat militantly, involved. There should have been more of us there. I feel the Fudd crowd was well represented at the rally, but IMO, the EBR crowd is far more important to the Republic.

This evening a fellow shooter reminded me of Sundown at Coffin Rock, and as I thought about that story again, it made me think of the overwhelming demographic of the crowd at the rally. Old guys for the most part. How many of them are passing the buck to the next generation? Granted, a lot of the older guys are veterans and have already served their country in uniform, but I wonder when the gun rights movement is going to get fed up with forever shifting the goal post.

Representative Nieves said today when GoGop and I were in his office that he thinks RIGHT NOW is the most dangerous time our country has ever experienced for the cause of freedom and our rights. I tend to agree with him. It's not just gun rights at stake, it's government intrusion in EVERY facet of our lives. Our freedom of association is being endangered, our freedom to raise our children in a manner we see fit is threatened, our freedom to secure our own food quality and security is under attack, and of course we have all the previously established and accepted forms of intrusion in our lives that have been foist upon us throughout the history of the U.S.

What I'm getting at is the veterans in the crowd fought for an idea of freedom that existed in a particular time and place. Now the current idea of freedom has shifted from that to OUR time and place. Veterans of the 20th century wars and people of my generation have vastly different notions of freedom than were common during the Revolutionary War era. Context is everything, especially when sacred honor is on the line.

What is an acceptable limit on governmental excess in this day an age? What can an individual tolerate? What can society tolerate?  Where and when do we draw the line?

Maybe it's time to come out of hiding and put your John Hancock on the damn list!

Just a thought.

Had to work.  That's the problem with holding rallies for conservative causes during the work week.  Conservatives have jobs.

I agree about holding rallies during the day.  I know several people that would have come if it would have been later during the afternoon.  Us conservatives HAVE to work because there are millions on welfare depending on us.

It has to be done when the Reps are there, so I see no other way or time frame for doing it.

As for being on a list, I can assure you that I'm on various lists around the country. If we don't stand together and try to get the right Reps in office while also trying to awaken the "It'll never happen here" crowd, then we're conceding defeat without a fight. I know there are lots of people who can't take off work for things like this, but the ones who didn't go strictly out of apathy are the ones we need to reach.

The idea of making some type of a list from either signing the guest book or going to the rally is a little tinfoilish.

I would say there is some good-natured tinfoil hyperbole going on with the notion that there is a "watch list" generated from the guestbook. Mostly the concern is in jest, and should only be taken a little bit seriously.

It IS true that guest books are used to compile mailing lists. Surely you're aware that any time you visit a business or a sightseeing attraction with a guest book that those are scoured for "marketing" opportunities.

A concrete example almost everyone should have experienced is with weddings or funerals. If you go, you're asked to sign the guest book. This serves as a memento of your presence so people can remember who all showed up, of course. It also helps to keep straight who brought what gifts or sent what flowers. Guest books aren't there just to make the visitors feel special. They do have practical applications.

I didn't really think about this until after I got back, but I don't think it's TOO much of a stretch to imagine some ninny representative, or even a legislative aide with a left-liberal sending unit calibrated too tightly, interpreting the orange almonds as an implied threat. Combine a guest book "registry" with an over-zealous jr. aide and the potential for embarrassment should be obvious.

Anyway, I'm not truly and deeply concerned, but I think it's a possibility to be considered. While I won't lose sleep over this, I'm also not willing to dismiss it out of hand.

YMMV-I'll try to keep mine consistent.
