I'm still not sleepy at 0323.  Too damn much caffeine.  Feet are cold.  Someone farted.  Have my trusty G21 at hand to fend off the night zombies.  Currently searching for G17L holster info on Arfcom.  Gonna go to NFM tomorrow, er, today and buy new mattresses.  Yea, never owned new mattresses before.  Damned caffeine.

I always liked working the night shift. It is in my DNA to sleep during the day and be awake at night.

i think the only think i like about working the night shift is i actually get stuff done.  the phone hasn't rung once tonight so i haven't had to do any help desk stuff.

I can go to bed now as I have surpassed 7500 posts, which was tonight's goal.    This should be #7501.

+1 on getting stuff done.
Normal day "A" shift hrs aren't bad but you have to deal with traffic & all that.  The evening "B" shift really fkn blows, nothing's open when you get off & no social life at all.  Dogwatch "C" shift is the way to go.. you get more done, you're usually running the opposite way home from the "A" shift folks going in so no traffic clusterfk, plenty of time to go to the bank/DMV/store/Drs office when they first open up & can socialize with friends/family in the late afternoon/early evening before going in.

Flashbacks, man.  1972.  Night shift at the warehouse.  Lunch break.  FM.  Night after night, middle of the night, The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys.  Zombies in the aisles....lol

At least working midnites you never have to wait in line at the DMV or anywhere else.
I did it for a few years. Yeah, it sucks in a lot of ways but the pay offs were never having to deal with bad traffic, a lot less pressure on the clock since all of the big shots were at home screwing their secretaries. Never having to wait in a line and a few other nice perks.

I work nights and evenings, have been for a long time.  I'm currently back on a 3p-11p shift, so I don't have to stay up all night at least, but I still conk out around 4 am or on average.

I did the 11p-7a shift for a few months.  It did give me a different opinion of the "daywalkers".....

I usually end up pulling nite shift about once a year .. (commercial construction) .. just things that can't be done during the day or on a rush schedule.
Yeah it sucks ..  working nights in downtown KC sucks even more.  If my employers knew some have suspected due to gun talk at break or lunch .. that I CCW ...................

I worked night shift in the factory in my younger days (read about 26 years of age here). I always liked the nighttime. If my memory serves me right we ate at about 3am; after that is when I would get real sleepy. Then round about sunrise I would be wide awake. I never could get on a sleeping schedule on night shift. Now I'm at a job where I'm on call. I just thoroughly enjoy being woke up at 2am when it's 0 degrees out and have to work outdoors. Retirement is looking better all the time if, LORD willing, I make it that far....

Actually we stayed in for the most part.  Caught up on some much needed relaxing, watched a few flicks, stayed out of the dreaded white stuff.

I don't know if it'd qualify for 'night shift', but I'm actually looking for some part-time work for the early morning hours, like 2-10am or something like that.  I think I'd like it, I usually run off little sleep as it is and being a student it would work nicely with my school schedule.  I think my SO would like me getting up real early too cause she hates it when I'm not ready for bed as early as she is!

I guess if anyone knows of anyone looking for some part-time help at these hours, let me know!

BTW, what did you grill Bop?

found some decent looking top sirloin and threw that on the grill.  made some yukon gold mashed potatoes, brocolli with shredded munster and swiss and also pan fried some shrimp.  basically made surf and turf for the wife and kids.

we didn't get any snow up here at all in mexico.  was a bit cold but its never too cold to grill when you have a  nice fire to warm yourself by. lol.

Heck no dude!  I'm the idiot you see brushing the snow off my Weber to fire up the coals.  I was thinking about grilling today but already promised the wife some pasta, so maybe tomorrow.

NICE!!!  where are you at to get all the snow.  i was hoping for a little bit at least.  mexico hasn't gotten crap this year. barely enough to make a decent snow ball.

I'm in northland KCMO, in the Platte Woods area.  I don't know the exact snowfall total, but I'd say it's at least 3-4".  I was pretty surprised that we got that much actually.

That's only an average of a little more than 5 posts a day.  I saw one guy whose average since he joined was about 25 a day.  Eric, you have to stay up later and post more if you're going to impress me. LOL

Hey, I worked the night shift for many years when I was still a street copper.  There were tremendous benefits.  First, you only meet bad girls after midnight. I met ex-wife #1 that way.  When you were with one of your good girls, like ex-wife #2, you always had an excuse to leave early - "hey honey I gotta work tonight - I have to leave - you were awesome" blah, blah, blah.   I would do my shopping in the morning before going home, a quiet time at the stores but again, more opportunities.  I met ex-wife #3 at Schnuck's.  Actually, Schnucks was a honey hole for me. Let's see - were we talking about guns?

Fellow nightshifter here, 11pm-7am!  I really don't mind it, there's usually no one here except for a couple guys that work the shift with me.  No supervision or anything like that.  The work we have to do each night gets tedious, but it isn't terrible.  I like it mainly when Friday rolls around, I usually just take a couple hour nap in the afternoon, get up, and then walk around like a zombieuntil late Friday night, when I go to sleep.  I do that so I don't miss out on Saturday...but last weekend, with all the snow, I didn't really care about that sleep schedule.  It's gonna kick balls when the nice weather is here to stay on weekends.  That's when I do most of my wrenching on my cars.
