I'm looking for a new FFL in the Saint Louis area for special orders, GunBroker transfers, etc. I'd prefer a reasonable fee, and being a picky bastard, a dealer that I can trust not to fondle or pass around my nifty new guns.
Any thoughts, recommendations, etc.? |

Eh, type in your zip in the GunBroker FFL search and try a few out. It has prices listed for most of them. Different people have posted different opinions about FFLs at different times.
I've used Top Gun in Imperial, Bullseye on Manchester and Tim? at a Pawnshop in St. Charles (I found it on the Gunbroker search). I think he charged $5 or $10. All were good, but the first two were pretty expensive ~$30. Tim was cheap, but about 30 minutes away. I guess the extra money is worth it for me considering Bullseye is about 10 minutes away from me. |

I use a guy in Eureka. Very knowledgable, waits for you to open the box, and quick to return emails. Just drop him a line you buy something so he knows its coming. I've even picked stuff up from him after 9pm in some instances. $20 and no problems.
His email is: [email protected] |

No markups.......Just order what you want and have it shipped to him. When it arrives, he'll email or call and you go pick it up. $20 per transfer here in Eureka.
I can understand a gun shop tacking on a fee if they have the same, brand new gun in the case. But for a home FFLr to charge you a percentage or a markup rather than just a flat transfer fee is wrong. Yeah, they're providing a service, but it's just a transfer––it shouldn't matter the type or value of gun is in the box. They're not ordering the gun for you, putting it on there account, then receiving it for you to inspect to decide whether or not you want to buy it. It should be a flat fee service. |
| I just tried emailing Dan at: [email protected]. Is this the correct email addy? I received a message that the account did not exist? |
