So I think I am going to cast some more bullets today. If that gets too boring then maybe I will strip that old Ballester-Molina and guncote in something kewl...
So, how are you fellers keeping from going stir crazy with all this damn rain this year?

Rain?  It's like 100 degrees and dry here in KC.  I don't even think you'd need to turn the furnace on to cast lead bullets up here right now.

Yesterday I was mowing the grass at 0645hrs to beat the heat.  Today I went out earlier to Roundup some weeds, and haven't been back outside since, nor do I plan to.

I hear that laying a newly acquired milsurp rifle on the driveway in this weather works well to melt away the old cosmoline.

OOOOO  I should go lay my enfield on the deck its got lotsa cosmo still

Speaking of mowing, I had to cut about 5 acres of grass yesterday, friggn soaked to the bone.  The crazy thing is that I had to stop at 13:00 because the grass was still too wet on a big hillside I had to mow Humidity was so high it wan't drying out and the zero turn doesn't like wet hills

Milsurps in the summer sun works great! I have done quite a few that way myself. Be sure to use an old nasty towel or something underneath the soak up the cosmo that does come out. Flip it every couple of hours and if you are anal enough wipe the "perspiration" off every half hour or so.

Well we'll see how it works wrapped in paper towels in a black plastic bag on the deck

If you were my neighbor, you'd be dead, and I'd be in jail.  Although, I'd have to ask Duke to be sure, but I think homicide is justified against people running power equipment before 9am on a Saturday....

It has been a crappy few weeks for weather.  We had all the rain, which sucked, and kept me inside too much.  And now we have all the heat which sucks more, cause it's hot inside and the AC is running constantly.

Today I slept in till 5pm.  Granted, I work nights, but still.  I usually am up at noon. But, I figure I didn't really miss anything.  I would have just been sitting around doing nothing anyway.  heh.

Normally I wait until after 0800 and usually it's much closer to 0900, but not in this God-awful heat.  Besides, all of my neighbors are old & retired and were probably up for several hours before I ever started mowing.  And/or they're stone deaf and didn't hear my Honda, which ain't really that noisy.

I see some dumbasses mowing at 2100hrs when the light is waning, with "miner's" lamps on their head.  God, it's still 90+ degrees AND getting darker by the minute that late in the day.  Nope, I'll get my smart ass up early and do it when it is the coolest of the day.  Heat stroke is a great incentive to get up early.

Weather...Ehh It does what is does. I'm still trying to find a house that fits my needs to relocate to in St. Charles or St. Peters for the Jobs I and the wife start on the 11th...

At this point, I don't have time to be bothered by the weather...

I left the house today at 730am and 2 of my not-immediate neighbors were mowing as well.  One of them was just finishing up so he too started early.  8a is normally the normal starting time around here but all bets are off w/this heat...  With the A/C on and a fan too, I'm not hearing them...

I don't want summer to end because that means school starts back up, but as long as the weather goes with the season...

I was in my pool today and the water was 89*, the crazy part was that it was actually refreshing.

Yeah the weather SUCKS!

My central air is KAPUT! And I can't afford to fix it!

One of my two rentals called Friday: "We have a LOT of black mold growing in the house!"

WHAT?????

I go over to the house and the basement is around 60 degrees F. Water is ALL OVER THE FLOOR, and there is an outrageous amount of condensation coming off of the duct work! The ceiling in the basement had black mold and is wet from the duct work dripping between it and the floor above it. They had 4 of the five windows open in the basement,

THAT WAS THE FRIKKEN CAUSE!

My AC guy (eeke) tells them that is the cause. I go back by today, they aren't home but they have at least one window open AGAIN!

Now their claiming one of them has a lung infection and their Doctor says it's because of the mold. The IDIOTS are blaming the mold on me! The first I knew of the mold was Friday!

Eviction notice goes out the first of the week.

Yeah, gotta love this weather!

Use a reel mower. Very quiet.

We have two rentals, I could tell you stories that would definitely convince you to NEVER be a landlord. In twelve years we have NEVER broke even on the rentals. Now we are trying to figure out how to get out from under them without completely losing our ass.

I sure am tired of the rain and flooding.  I took this pic Thursday morning while driving down Hwy 79 near Salt River.

I don't care whether I offend my neighbors that much, not in this heat.  And I certainly don't have the extra time to mow that a manual reel mower requires.

Two things:  Insulation for the duct work and a dehumidifier for the basement.

One thing; new tenants who aren't stupid

I would document the fact that they are leaving the house in a condition to cause the condensation and mold.  If they try and sue you'll be able to prove that they've created the condition themselves.  Of course you could disable the AC, that would probably get the house warm enough to dry everything out O and get a garden sprayer and mix up a bleach solution and spray the mold with it, it will kill it and stop new spores from spreading.

Excuse me, Eric. I'm not suggesting you or anyone else was failing to follow a COC for mowing. Simply making the observation that a reel mower is quiet enough to use anytime. It doesn't take me any more time to use one than a power mower. It's not for every lawn, or every person. As long as you maintain a constant motion, it cuts the grass just fine. It can be a workout, so if you're used to a self-propelled mower it'd be a serious change. At $159.00 delivered, it pays for itself pretty quickly if you mow once a week like I do.

Monk, I took no offense and I hope you didn't either.  I only recently graduated to a self-propelled powerful mower after years of using an underpowered and under-sized very old gas mower.  Ain't no way I'm downgrading to a push mower again, not with the size and unevenness of my yard.

And normally I hold off the mowing until neaqrly 0900 on the weekend.  But with this stifling heat, all bets are off.  FWIW, if my neighbors complained about it I would do almost anything possible to appease them.  I want no bad blood betwixt me and my neghbors, unlike the guy next door whose damn ham radio cuts into every electrical appliance in the neighborhood.  The worst part is that he knows damn well it irritates folks, and has for years, but he doesn't care.  Even though legally, supposedly, he's A-OK according to the FCC, he is most definitely not being a good neighbor.   Him I will remember when the zombies come a-knockin and he wants shelter in the 10mm Bunker.

I found out after they moved in that one of the tenants told my wife: "I can't have surgery at the hospital, they don't have my blood......................................I'M FROM ANOTHER PLANET!" No joke!

As to the bleach, it's a finished basement with a sheet rock ceiling on half of it! I'M SCREWED!
