Loftis Gun and Pawn, 417 Guns and Kelley's Police Supply are your best bets.  Don't bother with the "pawn shops", most are way overpriced and won't have anything good.

Kelleys moved down a couple storefronts, most of their lineup now is 5.11 gear with some other stuff also.

Loftis pawn has a pretty good selection most of the time and they handle my transfers cheaply.

417 guns is on the south side of town and probably has the most AR style equipment but even it pales in comparison to a place like Denny's in KC or CMMG.

There's Steve's Guns just a couple doors down from 417 if you want to be berated by a surly guy for not being one of his coffee drinking regulars, you know that type of gunstore experience.

Dennys in N. Kansas City.

They are kinda like the storefront for Global Tactical Supply. Different owners though.

They have a decent selection of AR acces.

ETA: I RE-READ YOUR POST, NOTICED YOU ARE GOING TO SPRINGFIELD NOT KC. IF YOU CAN MAKE THE DRIVE THOUGH, IT WILL PROBABLY BE WORTH IT.
