Here's a thought:

Springfield Armory will replace your barrel for $209 and repark the entire rifle for $75.00.  They will use a customer supplied barrel for $125.  This includes a complete inspection and a phone call to you if something is out of spec anywhere on the rifle.

Check out the CMP forums for more info.  Those guys over there are always bringing that subject up...

Out of curiousity, how does that price compare to some of the "big name" M1 'smiths such as Fulton?

That's a great price. The CMP sells Criterion Barrels for $179.95. You can find replacement barrels in the lower one hundred dollar range, but they are generally not regarded as good barrels (Citadel, etc.). I am not sure what SA uses, but I am sure they use products of good quality. All of the guys that I have spoke to have been more than happy with their rebarrel.

Its always done it, its a greek cmp got it last year.  Only put about a can of greek through it.  I've already put a new spring in it, thinkint that might help but it still just gives a little ping and the clip just sits in there.

So you changed the clip latch spring? What kind of stock does is sit in (usgi or aftermarket)?

Yup, there is a spring under the clip latch. It is a pretty small spring. Probably a $1.00 spring or so.
