Sometimes I enjoy local gun shows, but today was a real crock of shit. Maybe it was the weather, the crowd, or a few limited interactions with people that spew BS. I spoke with a table vendor about full-auto subguns. First, he states that a C&R in Missouri is useless in regards to the Class III game. In his eyes, there is no legal stipulation for holding a firearms license of any sort in order to own Class III items in MO. The only legal hoop to jump through would be to complete the federal form for the firearm desired (i.e. Form 4). Second, open bolt autos should ONLY be handled by "highly trained professionals." In his words, they can easily empty 14 or so 9mm "slugs" into you if you are not careful. Finally, those cheap Macs can be found in the low $2,000 range. If so, point me to 'em because I will proceed to snatch up as many as I can find at that price. Other than that, I thought that the show was decent. I dumped $7 and didn't pick up anything, but was tempted to pick up a few Lugers. Those Johnson 1941s were also enticing, but I would currently rather spend my money on something else. Sorry for my rant. I wish people would just read up on their facts before spewing this kind of crap in a public venue. |

Which show were you at? I went to Midway for a bit to say hi to the CMMG crew and see what's going on. Hadn't been to one in years, turnout was incredible, I think people are worried about the election. Prices were, uh, inflated. A friend was thinking about buying an AK and I was showing him the difference between the Yugo and WASR builds when we were accosted by a large sweaty man in a flannel shirt and overalls. He yelled at us (it was a bit noisy in there but I think he might have been hard of hearing), "I BOUGHT ONE O' THEM AKS FROM THIS GUY AND LEMME TELL YOU SOMETHING, BOY IT SHOOTS LIKE A HOUSE A'FIRE!!!" Yes that is an exact quote. Thank you for the useful information sir, I will take it under advisement when considering my next firearm purchase. Now I will take my leave of you, and head to the nearest bathroom to clean your spittle off of my shirt. |
The friend decided that I could get him a WASR for under $375 or a Yugo for under $485. I'm recommending the Yugo to him, IMHO they are a much better build right now. Thinking about getting the fixed stock M70AB1 for myself maybe, Aimsurplus has them for cheaper than I can build one after buying a receiver and all the US parts. |
ya sad really, never thought i would say it but century got it right on the yugo guns, the underfolders are nice also, the fixed stocks are nice, but i am AK'ed out. i even thought of selling my fixed stock Romanian you guys built me. Ronald |

If you sell da G, give us first dibs on it please. Its a really nice build and I'm sure one of the guys that built it would love to give it a home. I'm thinking of thinning the herd a bit myself. If I part with a few items I can raise up enough money to get something really insane like a tricked out 9mm SBR, one of the new AUGs, or a Masada. |
Man, you got ants in your pants or what? I swear you just can't hang onto a gun for nothing. ![]() |

Yeah Eric I know, I'm really bad about turning over my guns. But I figure, the only way you know what you like is to try everything. There's still more stuff I haven't tried yet. And since I'm an FFL, buying and selling lots of guns isn't a problem, its a business. Its a good thing I express this part of my personality through firearms collecting, and that I never got into the drug scene. I'd have never made it to 30 years old... |
I guess that means that every machine gun I sold to a C&R is illegal. On MACs in the low $2,000 range............it's possible. I sold a Powder Springs M-10 .45 for $2,400 five months ago. The gun was a little rough, it needed a new barrel as the previous owner THOUGHT he knew how to use a Dremel to throat a barrel. Also the magazine well had been modified so that you didn't have to modify the "ears" on the magazine. The profit was so-so, I only made a profit of around $2,000. (I've had it a LONG time) PursuitSS |
Ok Don, what else have you been grinding on? |
I went by the Columbia show today to take a look at this black powder upper CMMG has. Gonna have to have one I think. Not really much else to see this time I didn't think. Not much ammo for sale, or even components. (need some more. Reloading is just as addictive as "black rifle disease") The daughter did sell 20 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to Jeff though so she was happy. (BTW, Thanks again Jeff) Jeff mentioned he had a LOT of people come by asking about a shoot soon. He brought up that prior to 94' there were approx 2 million AR's made(since design began). From 94' to 04' there were approx 2 million made(during the Clinton ban). In 07' alone there were almost 800K made so "YES, with the current political climate, they have been REALLY, Really busy. I was a little suprised at the numbers he gave. |

Was at the KCI show, briefly met Toothlessrooster and a bunch of younger guys tailing him. Talked with John from CMMG a bit, Fire For Effect is its own company. They are or will be (not sure which) their own dealer, I don't know about the storefront but as best I can tell think of CMMG as the manufacturer and Fire For Effect as a retailer/range. As someone mentioned business was brisk. CMMG seemed to be filling out 4473s as fast as they could write. Ammo and Mags seemed to be popular this weekend as well. |
If you have any trouble finding a good Mac, e-mail me. I have a couple NIB Mac's coming in on a trade for an FNC sear gun(One M11 9mm and one M11A1 .380). It's been busy lately, only have two FNC sear guns left now and sold out of the Tromix Saiga 12 conversion and took deposits on 3 of the 4 that are due in April. Things are getting busy as the election nears. The M11 9mm will be popular now that the MAX-11 turned it into more than a bullet hose. They will have an MAX-10 upper for the M10 .45ACP and 9mm also. Got both of them on order but there is a long waiting list for both of them. Richard does some top notch work. Here is more info at the link below if you have not heard about them or seen how slow their uppers run .....and they look so darn good too. MAX-11/MAX-10 |
It was good to meet some more ARFcommers! It was so busy I didn't think I would see anyone I knew. Too many people to make out faces. I found one G35 in the whole show going for $675. I know I can do better through Mark if I have a little patience. I did pick up a nice little Para P12.45 for carry. 12 rounds of .45 kinda makes a guy feel warm and fuzzy. ![]() All in all it was a good show and I was eyeballing those Johnsons as well. I've always loved those things. CMMG and the JSE girls were there, so it's gotta be decent. And Watman you're gonna hurt my feelings that you thought they were "younger" guys. Maybe I just need to shave?

YEAH thats AWESOME cause I'm actually about 5yrs older than him, and it might have been me you saw with him, Plus you got to trail him cause if you walk in front of him then turn around and hes gone |
did you say masada?? are those even out to the public yet? from what i read they seem to be very impressive. price range if available??? thanks sean |

Eric and Toothless, Ive got a G35 I used to shoot in USPSA. Im going to sell it soon if you all are interested. The only reason Im selling is because im having a CCF with caspian slide built. Dawson sights, trigger job, about 1000 rounds down the pipe. Let me know if you guys are interested. Not really sure what Im selling it for right now, but Im open to offers.

They are not out yet. There's a five-page thread in the Armory Section where Drake from Magpul is posting updates regularly. He says they will be available in their final configuration after SHOT, and MSRP will be $1400. Even with dealer pricing that will be an expensive gun for me but I believe it will be worth it. I have visions of a few cool guns dancing in my head, and not enough wallet to buy even one of them right now. Magpul Masada Thread What sucks is that the Mediation certification CLE course I just completed was $750 for three days, so that would have gotten me halfway there. But I need the hours to keep my law license, so its just a cost of doing business (at least that's how I'm trying to look at it). Plus I can be a mediator now. Duke Nukem, neutral party bringing people together. LOL |
Actually, it wasn't me. I have used ye olde Dremel tool on numerous occasions but I subscribe to the rule of go SLOW as it's much harder to put it back than to take it off. The IDIOT that "throated" it didn't have a clue. It wouldn't feed even ball ammo. PursuitSS |
