"It'll never happen to me." I remember getting into a gun control argument with a female friend in law school. She was doing it all from a very intelligent, philosophical standpoint, which suits her very much. I remember her saying "I think that carrying a gun shows that you don't trust people, I mean, why would anyone be so angry with me that I would have to kill them to save my own life? If you don't have a bunch of people mad at you all the time then you shouldn't be so afraid." I looked in her eyes and replied in my gravest tone, "I knew a girl in undergraduate school who thought the same way you did. It only took ONE forcible rape to change her mind." You should have seen the look on her face.
