I am in the process of buiding another AR and I want a slower twist barrel that is made to go on an AR. I don't want anything faster than 1/12 because I want to shoot primarily light bullets as accurately as possible. I built a Bushmaster with a 26" HEAVY Broughton barrel in 1/14 and it shot great, but I thought I was hoisting a howitzer. I don't care for the the faster twist barrels with lighter bullets because they aren't accurate enough. + if there is ever a need to scrounge for ammo, lighter bullets are more easy to come by and I want the most out of my gun. Now that you all know what I'm looking for, hereis my question. Is there any advantage of a heavy barrel over a light barrel in any aspect other than it won't be affected by barrel heat as fast? I'd like one in a mid-length something like 16-18" I know CMMG offers a 16" 1/12 light weight barrel so I'd like to hear them chime in on this as well. |
