| Just wondering if those prices are for ffls only or for the ordinary user. I wanted to get an M9 and the place back home (nebraska resident) said they couldn't do the 429 price plus transfer fee, but they were gonna charge me 510 with shipping. I told them not to bother then. Just a lookin for an answer so I can stop looking at amazing deals that won't come to pass..... |

Ahhh, the good ole CDNN and FFL situation. Been there, done that. Make sure you talk to your FFL about the situation first. Those prices are good for anyone. The key is to find and FFL that will do the transfer and not try and take a cut off the top. Call CDNN and ask them to tell you who they have on file as an FFL in your area. Then go and find an FFL of that list that will do the transfer for a fee (alternatively find and FFL that is not on file and will do the transfer and have him fax in his FFL). Call CDNN, buy the gun yourself and have them ship to your FFL. Go and pick up your gun and pay the transfer fee. A word of advice, also ask if the FFL will have to charge you tax on it when you pick it up. Some do, some don't. I have a very nice FFL here that I deal with. $20 a gun, no tax, no questions. I buy the gun online or send a money order to a private individual and get their mailing/fax address. I then call him and give him the info. He calls when the gun is in, I show up with a $20 bill in hand, he does paperwork, I go home with gun. I made the mistake of going with a different FFL one time, bought a gun from CDNN and had it transfered in. When I went to pick it up he told me I owed him $100 in sales tax on the gun, despite the fact that I bought the gun over the phone and paid for it using a credit card in Texas. In summary, talk to your FFL and find out before hand. |
| watman, I'd love to, but i'm a nebraska resident and I don't believe I can purchase a handgun outside of nebraska (if i'm not mistaken). I took a ccw class with an older guy who is a gunsmith and seemed really nice. I might check out if he'll do it. I also picked up a taurus pt 92 AF from my buddy who needed the loot for a compinsated 19 so i stole it for $250. |

MrNuke, as a fellow Huskerite, currently stuck down here in Misery (Ok guys, you know I'm kidding), if you are living anywhere near Omaha, I can hook you up with my old FFL in Omaha. He's basically a non-storefront dealer, not much inventory, but he'll let you order something, fax his ffl and then pick up the gun from him, like was described above. Let me know if you need a hookup? |

I have ordered a gun and had it shipped to an FFL. Then I pay the FFL fro the transfer this ussually runs $20-40 for the transfer. The key is to find an FFL that will do it, I have found the the kitchen table dealers (harder to find now) and the smaller Mom and Pop shops will work with you. The larger stocking dealers want you to buy their inventory. When I lived in IL I used and Army surplus store that did not stock many guns at all, but did a boat load of transfers. YMMV. |
