| Did not get much of a response on the GT. When I retire in a year I would like to work at Bass Pro Shop in Springfield. Probably part time for a little extra cash. Are they a good employer? Anyone had first hand experience? Any info would be appreciated. |

I dont know about working there but there gun department service sucks. Me and another arfcommer were at the range a couple /3 weeks ago. A young guy comes down with his buddy and there girlfreinds to shoot his new rifle, a nice little 17hmr savage. After they had been shooting for awhile i start to hear part of there conversation, they were mad cause they were not getting on the paper @ 50 yards. I waited a few minutes and asked if they ahd boresighted the rifle, "some guy @ basspro did where i just bought it at" he said. I asked if he minded if i tried to get it on the paper for him. He hands me the rifle, right off i notice something doesnt feel right when i take hold of it, hmm, the action isnt even tight in the stock?? Grab a allen wrench and find out that both bolts that hold the action in the stock are loose, not just a little either, extremely loose, so much that the "guy @ basspro" was a moron for not catching it IMO and there was no way it was gonna hold a zero of any kind. Get them tightened up and get to bore sighting it, it was now where near being bore sighted, set in on my bags and got to work. I got it to where i could get in on paper and handed it back to him, he ended taking about 15 miuntes after that to get it zeroes to "his" satisfaction. I just couldnt beleive they sent a cunstomer out the door with a rifle like that. I told him he ought to go back and raise holy hell with the manager. OK , sorry for the rant, just after that i dont really have to much good to say about there firearms department. |
| I worked in the warehouse for over two years as a stocker and forklift driver while I was getting my BS at SMSU. Lots of college kids work there. It was ok for a college job, pay was ok, but the company doesn't take care of their low end workers only the admin. people get any real perks. Morale was always low. One instance they told us that there was no budget that year for across the board raises yet the next week they announced that they had just paid $3 million to have the BPS logo put on Earnharts car. Talk about a kick in the nuts. Then the car crashed about ten laps into the race. They have such a high turnover rate, I guess they figure they dont need to do much for the hourly folks. Met a lot of my best friends there though, fellow gun nuts and such. |
