How are their rifles in terms of quality and build?  I am heading to Yuma AZ for a WTI deployment in about 2 weeks and will have some extra dollars when I get back and I was looking at either the CMMG 16” M4 Carbine, or the CMMG M10 MedCon Rifle.  What do you guys think I should do?  Sould I just go and get another Bushie or go with a hometown shop?

I'd pick another CMMG bbl or upper over BM any day of the week.  I think there quality is just as good as BMs if not better, and there customer service is by far much better.  I think that the CMMG products are closer to the millitary requirements then BMs stuff.  I like the fact that they are "close" to Companies like FN.  That says alot for them in my opinion.  I don't think FN would associate with a company that was sub par.

I'll take the Pepsi Challenge with their stuff against anybody's, and I mean anybody's.  I've been shooting the same M4 upper since a week after the AWB sunset, and recently ordered the parts to assemble a midlength upper for my wife, which will eventually become a complete rifle for her.  And they've become much more than a "hometown shop", the amount of volume that they deal in is quite high.

After my wife's gun is done, then I need to get an SBR, and a original-style M16A2 type with a govt. profile barrel, and then a...

Mine with the (heavy mofo) CMMG SOCOM 14.7 inch barrel.

Quality is top shelf.

Customer service borders on unbelievable. They have bent over for me on a few items I ordered and bought at gun shows.

My next barrel will likely be just as heavy but much longer for those special times

Go with CMMG.  They will take care of you, today or two years from now.

I own both and i just really feel better about the cmmg rifle.  Their support after the buy is bar none.  When you go to yuma, you should take a .22 or .22 mag for bunny blasting.  It is a load of fun.  there are more rabbits than you can shake a stick at.  When you are there can you drive by my house?  just kiddin'.  Not kiddin' about taking a rifle though.

back again, I really like what I have heard, and will look more into it, but I have also been eyeing a RRA gov't model, looks pretty good and alreday hes almost all the goodies I could want, I don't know.  I havent bought one in a while and am kinda limited on what all I can do, due to me being here in S.C.  I cant wait to get back to MO.  I know I could probably get all the extras for about the same price, but then I have to go through with looking for all the stuff.  I dont know what I will do, But I do have almost 2 months to think it over.  Thanks for the help.

The difference between CMMG and Rock River is that CMMG actually has most of their listed stuff in stock.

Try ordering the Rock River and you'll see what I mean.

I thought that most of RRAs stuff was 1/9 as well?

+1 on having stuff in stock.  CMMG is the only company I can order something over the Internet from on Tuesday afternoon and it's sitting on my doorstep when I get home on Wednesday after work.

Something against 1/9 twists? I like em especially with 52 gr bullets.  From what I understand 1-7 is gonna be more for the heavier bullet stabilization.  But I've been known to have been wrong before.

Who the heck shoots 52 grain bullets?  Why not go with 55 grain M193 or 62 grain SS109 and have a standard spec loading?

1/9 is a civilian bastardized twist rate.  There's no military gun ever issued in 5.56 with that twist rate.  Instead of using 1/12 to ideally stabilize 55 grain and 1/7 to ideally stabilize 62 grain, some civvie manufacturer came up with 1/9 twist as a compromise to "sorta" stabilize the "most common" bullet weights to at least a certain extent.  Its a jack of all trades and master of none.  Also, you will often, but not always, see 1/9 twist barrels with civvie spec .223 chambers instead of true spec 5.56 chambers.  Blasphemy!

Yup ours is a .223 with a 1-9.  And as for the 52 gr. bullets the people who use em like to have all the rounds go in one hole.  Maybe I can get my Pappy to give ya a demo Dukey

(Honestly I don't know why he likes the 52 gr other than they've been great for him)

I'm not big on .223 precision stuff, if I'm going for a precision rifle its going to be a .308.  If I'm shooting an AR then I'm normally doing CQB type stuff at 50 yards or less, and I'm blowing through somewhere between 100 and 200 rounds of ammo per range session against silouette type targets.  So the ammo needs to be inexpensive and bought in bulk.  There's a time and place for putting five rounds in one hole, I like that too, but I'm not big on doing it with the .223 caliber.

Ah.  Well bulk we're still shooting 55 gr.  Maybe I'm just a lightweight.  .308 I do not have, but I've been toying around with a 7mm Rem Mag lately.  Its a smoker.
