So any updates about St. Louis county issuing CCW permits yet?

Last I have heard was that the city/county of StL still does not have to issue (hancock amendment) and isn't changing their minds. I have heard that legislation to take care of this is working its way through the missouri senate/house but I have no idea when it will make it through.
ETA;
Get a florida license. I have a missouri and a florida, if I had been thinking before hand I would have passed on the missouri and went with just a florida license. The mo will cost 100.00 if I know anything about StL. It will be good for only 3 years and few other states accept it. The florida is accepted in many more states, cost 117.50 and is good for 5 years.
If you want to get a florida let me know if I can help, already went through the process and know what you need to do.

Looks like it ain't gonna happen without  a change in the law, the courts have upheld the county's position that they don't have to issue ...
"in St. Louis County, it was determined that each endorsement would cost over $70 to create and process. Since the State of Missouri has neither funded nor made an appropriation to fund those costs that St. Louis County would incur for undertaking the processing of applications for endorsements to carry concealed weapons, the Concealed Carry Law was determined to be unconstitutional."

Your best bet is to get a concealed carry permit from Florida (which will issue to non-residents), which will be valid for use in MO.

Hmm.....thought thats why we were paying them up to $100 -- to pay for the cost of getting the permit.  I should know better than to inject logic into any discussion about StLouis and the way its run.

Oh, and welcome to the board(s) Karl_Withakay

If I remember the wording of the Bill that past. It states that the money is to be used for "Training" and "Equipment". Nothing is said to be used to pay for the finger prints, nor for the FBI to run checks on those finger prints. Nor for someone to do the MULES check on the person who is applying for the permit. Hence the balking by some police deptments.  Unlike us commoners. If the city or state says we have to do  something on our property, such as clean up all of the junkers in our driveway, or that our old maple tree has gotten to big and is a hazard of falling down. We have to flip the bill. Where as a city or county has to be funded by the start or federals to meet their mandate.

for everyone that has picked up an out of state c.c.w.? or instate c.c.w. for that matter.

how does that fly with the local L.E.O.s i have a couple friends on st.louis city and st.louis county and they have all told me they will arrest anyone with a permit and carrying concealed.

complete bullshit i'm thinking, but none the less this is what i have been told.

so just wondering if anyone has had any run in or just doesn't carry in the county or city.

I would say your LEO friends wil be opening themselfs up for a law suit. Lets see, Police harrassment, unlawful restraint, loss of income and I am sure a real sharp lawyer could come up with a few more to add to the list. Disclaimer, so long as the out of state permit is reconized in this state and that the holder didn't do anything such as branisment of the weapon.

So, screw your friends and any other LEO who gets a gestopo hard on about us civilians who have the RIGHT to carry concealed.

hey i agree with ya paul and so do they. they think it's b.s. that it has been handed down from on high that they are to arrest. even if i have a st.charles county permit it is not recognized by the stl and stl county police. just asking is all i'm doing hell i don't even have my permit and am not sure if i'm even gonna get it since it seems a hassle to be as worried about the cops as you are criminals.

Hey Karl, glad you made it onto the boards!  Welcome to the vast right-wing conspiracy.

Guys, Karl is the fellow who brings that gi-nor-mous .404 Winchester lever action rhino gun to the shoots.  You may have seen me try it out at the last shoot.  Tuck it into your shoulder hard and put 90% of your weight on the front foot and you might not get knocked on your ass!

M, sorry that I got fired up like that. In part i thought it was your LEO friends mind set, not the pencil pushing blue suited politician (thier chefs). Now I understand you, it's their chefs opion/policy.  Still the CCW is state wide and the city/county cant make their own rules on this one. As for the lawsuit, my opion still stands. Someone on the  police dept is going to loose their ass if  they try to make their own rules/laws. Thats for the legistration to do and they have made it legal provided one jumps through the hoops. Same them nit wits cant wright a good word law. Now we have to wait and see if they can make the correct corrections to the law in 2005 so that all police deptments have to play nice like and have to issue permits so long as the requester has filled in all the right boxes.

They are going to lose on this one guys.  The SC of Missouri  has already said all parts of the law OTHER than the Handcock issue are valid therefore they are in force.  If some county DA wants to take it to court they are going to lose and the officers involved will be in a heap of liability.  St. Louis doesn't have to issue permits but the state law is clear about valid permits, and they can't just ignore it and expect that it'll just go away.  If your friends are working for chief that puts them in that spot they are crusing for a brusin.

Actually it is a Winchester 1895 in .405 Winchster which throws a 300 gr bullet at 2200 f/s for 3224ft-lbs.  (that's about 10% more muzzle energy than a .30-06 with a bullet that's twice as heavy)

A .45-70 seems like a .223 by comparison.

Teddy Roosevelt took several of these guns to Africa to hunt lions, he called it his medicine gun.

Today, you'd want at least a .475 H&H for safari in Africa, but the .405 Win will take anything native to the western hemisphere with ease.

The 1895 was the last lever-action designed by the great John Browning.

Could I (Living in st. louis) get A permit issued from A different county?
Say like St. Charles or something?

Unfortunately the permit must be issued by the county in which you reside.

No.  I read recently about people getting in trouble for trying to do this.

You can however, get a permit from any other state and it is valid in MO.  I've had a CCW permit since long before I moved to MO.  I have been carrying with it since it became legal.  I have never had a problem with the police.  But that is mostly because it is concealed.

I'm not really inclined to get a MO permit when STL County finally starts taking applications.  The way I see it, they don't want my mony now.  I'm not inclined to give it to them later.  And I'm legal already so screw them.

Just curious,  Do you have to go to Florida to get the CCW.  Can you take a class in your home state and just send proof to Florida to get the CCW?

You can take the class in MO and send them the proof w/ your application.
