I'm coming up to Huntsville this weekend with the family to run in the marathon. We're staying at the Country Inn & Suites downtown close to the start of the race. I've already got Larry's on my list to see Friday afternoon and the Old Greenbriar for a post race meal Saturday night. And if I'm not too sore we're going to stop in and see the Space & Rocket Center Sunday before heading on with the rest of our trip to GA. Planning on taking a 2 mile jog around the Historic section of downtown Friday after visiting Larry's. Didn't know if there was anything down there worth seeing or if I had missed any other sites that we would want to see. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Up to 1 inch of snow possible in north Alabama, but major problems aren't likely

For your Friday run try Maple Hill. Yeah, it is a cemetery but there is a lot to see there and many people run there.... |

Thanks for the heads up on the Lights at the Garden it sounds right up the wife's and daughter's alley. We're already planning on going to Calloway Gardens in GA but they won't turn down a chance at seeing more Christmas lights. And the cemetery does sound interesting I'll have to check it out, alot better than just running past regular businesses.
And Gunham your picture is correct. Unless something changes in the next 48 hours this will be the coldest race I've done along with the longest. I think I've got my cold weather stuff ready but Saturday morning will be the real test. Looks like the temp at the start should be 32-34 not great but its what we'll all have. But I think the 10-15 mph wind will be the biggest breaker of everyone. |
| We've been once before 5 years ago. To me its a great way to see christmas lights. We've already bought our tickets and have our time slot selected. Just pull in before your time and sit in your truck until its time to drive thru the lights. We'll have a movie to keep the little one busy till we can go thru them. I'm sure we miss a little bit here and there but its nice being able to sit in your nice warm truck the entire time. |

I work at the botanical garden and I can confirm that it's a great experience. it's $20 per car (up to 10 people in the vehicle) you can get $1 off by donating a non perishable food item, toy, coat, animal supplies etc. we work with lots of local charities to provide as much stuff as we can.
also, this isnt Callaway, it's the Huntsville Botanical garden. Callaway does have lights and they are great but they are in Georgia. more info on the lights can be found on their website www.hsvbg.org there is a new entrance this year, you enter at the road to the Space and Rocket center. there is a big lit up sign at the turn just before the Marriott. If you want to use a GPS, the mariott's address is 5 tranquility Base, Huntsville AL 35805 also, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to browse at Larry's, its a great place. if you plan on buying a gun they will give you a free range pass too so plan accordingly :) |
