I'm cross-posting this in the Hog forums because I'm really needing to hunt some hog. If that's offsides I will remove it.
Does anyone happy to know of any hog hunting within an hour or so of Starkville? I built my 6.8 to hunt deer and hog and I'd like to get a chance to snag a hog before I'm sent out of the country again. Thanks for the help folks. |
I've been to a friend-of-a-friend's property to get this one (which was 20 mins north of Starkville):![]() http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=121&t=540752 I can see if I can bring a friend next time I get invited. Strategy #2 is to drive out north and west of town where the pigs are and start knocking on the doors of farmers. |

I just moved to Mississippi in January and then spent three months in the middle east for work. I haven't found my footing yet and cant afford to pay $800 for a weekend hunt. |

Many of the WMA's have hogs too. But you won't be able to setup a deer feeder for them there. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I contacted the game warden in Lowndes county for some leads and he gave me something of a rundown on hogs. He said that Noxubee and Oktibbeha had some swine but he didn't know of any in his area.
I'm going to call the WMA in Oktibbeha and see what their status is, I wouldn't have had that idea if it weren't for the suggestion so thanks. Once I know where to hunt I'm going to make a run to Tupelo to finish up my hunting license and then it's game on! Thanks gents! |

Um... I have yet to find a non-wma place to hunt hogs. i would be extremely interested in a hog hunt, as i actually want the meat! (get it processed!) if anyone finds something, let me know! +1, especially to the part in bold. I used to hunt one WMA in MS when I lived here before, and there were lots of hogs, but we never tried to hunt them - we'd hear them while deer hunting, a buddy killed a couple, but we always focused on deer. Now I'd kind of like to shoot one and eat it. |

I have spent the last several hours talking to various MWFP folks and I have gotten exactly nowhere.
They are telling me that even though the hogs are nuisance animals hunting must be done with "in-season" weapons on. The caveat to that is "on public land." On private land we can hunt with any weapon we choose. Does anyone have any idea where else I might be able to start searching for? I'm out of contacts and ideas at this point. Apparently wild hogs roam free in the Delta but I don't know a single person down there. |

This has limited resolution, but see what good it will do you: feral swine map

I found that map and was referred to it by MDWFP. It is unfortunately vague. I know there are pigs north of Starkville - which also has a small WMA. I'm going to investigate there and then start knocking on doors. |

The 'in-season weapon' thing was one reason we never pursued pigs on WMAs. Have you considered a craigslist ad? |

Most of the time I get people wanting to give me money for cashing their $19mil check. |
