Who is going? (Besides me)

I will be there. Instructing. I would encourage anyone in the area to attend. Appleseed is a family friendly organization. Women and children under 21 shoot free! Lets not forget that military also shoot for free! So can you shoot well enough to score expert on a AQT? If not come to a Appleseed and you will be given all the tools necessary to get that coveted rifleman patch. Anyone attending will also learn of our history. More specifically the events leading up to and events that happened on April 19 1775. |

Really, just three of us and one is an instructor. No wonder we dont have any place to shoot in Mobile, we dont have any shooters. I was gonna say, where is it happening? The shooting range past the airport has been shut down for years! Moss Hill, it is a shooting club on Lott Rd. in Eight Mile. |
|
We shot 400-500 rounds at our Appleseed earlier this year. Also, consider the fact that you can shoot these events with a .22; this takes alot of the sting out of ammo costs.
I built a .22, outfitted it with Tech Sights and got a 500 round brick of .22 lr for roughly the same price of decent centerfire ammo for the weekend. I encourage anyone to attend the Appleseed - its a great learning experience. |

I wish my 22 was ready. Several of us instructors have loaner rifle's if someone wants to use one. They are 10-22's with tech sights. So if someone wants to go but dose not have a rifle they can ask and will have a rifle waiting on them. YOU WILL NEED TO SPEAK UP BEFORE THEY ARE ALL SPOKEN FOR! |

I have been wanting to attend and Appleseed event. Also what is the age limit? I may have my daughter that weekend who at age 8 is a very good shot with a Ruger 10/22. Don't think she could get the patch, but would be a good educational experience for her and I. We had a little girl on the line that was maybe 8 at the B'ham Appleseed this past weekend. We let her use sandbags so she could participate, and she had alot of fun with her pink cricket rifle. As long as the child can follow instructions and is safe with the muzzle, they can shoot. There is no age restriction at Appleseed. By all means bring her! Appleseed's "Bama" Shoot Boss/Instructor/Alabama State Coordinator |

How much ammo do you have to bring? I think I read on the site where you have to have 1000 rounds or more.Maybe this is why people aren't signing up. We suggest 400-500 rounds, but it will probably be around 300-400 rounds. This is summer in south Alabama folks. In my estimation, things will move a bit slower because of the heat. We will be able to cover at least 70' of the firing line. I bought some "pop up" canopies that worked well at B'ham and will have them at Mobile. If you are interested in coming I would sign up as soon as you can. The general rule is that you about double your pre-registration numbers during the last two weeks before the shoot. I understand we are about half booked as of a week ago. This shoot is limited to 25 shooters. Appleseed's "Bama" |

I'll have four Liberty Training Rifles with me, including a pink one for a lady (or cocky wise-guy) and I also have a youth model stock that we can use if we have a smaller child that needs a shorter length of pull. If you think you're "good", go make a 1" square on a piece of paper or paper plate. Put it at 25 meters (82') and see if you can get 5 rounds in that square without using a table, rest, bench, bag, bipod, magazine monopod, etc. Just you, your rifle, your position, and a sling to get stable. If you can't do it and do it consistently you need Appleseed. If you can, come anyway as Appleseed needs you! It matters not if you are a high-speed ninja, or a newbie, Appleseed will make you a better shooter. And you may just leave a better American...... "Bama" |

I've obtained permission from the wife to attend! I plan on bringing a primary and backup AR, along with my .22 conversion. Is this acceptable? One of the ARs has an EOTech on it, along with irons. Is that OK? Do I need to bring a .22 in addition to the two ARs? If so, all I have is a scoped Marlin M60.
Thanks in advance gents, and look forward to seeing you there! |

I intend to register shortly, but I have a few questions: I plan on bringing a primary and backup AR, along with my .22 conversion. Is this acceptable? Thanks in advance gents, and look forward to seeing you there! As I understand it all of the training is conducted with iron sights. This is in order to build the foundation needed for all other types of marksmanship. Please correct me if I am wrong. |

Thanks in advance gents, and look forward to seeing you there! Bring what ever you like. We will accept any rifle from .22 all the way to 8mm. We would take bigger than that but it kinda makes it unfair during the scoring on the AQT Iron or scope makes no difference to us. Just bring a teachable attitude and be ready to roll in the dirt with those toys! After all guns are not suppose to be safe queen's are they. Please everyone bring your wife and children. Especially the kids! After all they are the future of our nation. |

Yes we focus on iron's but lets face it some of us need a scope for the simple reason that our eyes dont focus like they use to. Like I said earlier bring whatever you have we will work with anything {especially for what us appleseed instructors are paid} |

Any chance we can get some name tags with our ARFCom screennames? Otherwise I'm gonna have a heckuva time remebering everyone from here! We can use the standard Appleseed name tag system. "sharpie with duck tape" |

One other question, and please correct me if I'm out of my lane: Can we bring a camera to take a few pics? Absolutely! If you will consent to allowing us to post them in the After Action report on the shoot we would appreciate it. Cool! That's what I was thinking of doing, but I can email/IM you the pics and let you do it. |

Just a heads up for anyone thinking of signing up. There are only 11 positions available as of today. Usually the last week a venue will sell a bunch of slots. So if you are still thinking of coming sign up before this venue sell's out. Thanks for the update. I've got one female who's interested, and a friend who wants to come and watch––I dunno why he won't come out and shoot. (He's an Army reservist, too. )

Remember to hydrate, its going to be a hot couple of days. Will there be any water or ice available at the range location? I'm trying to decide how much water/drinks to bring. Also, I may be able to snag the 5-gallon cooler from work if need be, so that everyone has some cold water. |

I am READY! I won't be bringing the cooler, BTW––I forgot today was my last day with my current employer.
I'm not looking forward to the near 100 degreee heat, though. |

Well first day report. Stick us all with a fork we are well done!
It was smoking hot all day, All shooters did very well considering the heat and not use to the positions. Most showed marked improvements in shooting ability. I would suggest that some Arfcommers stay with the 30 round mag's yall are going to need them.

Might those 30 rounders come in handy for the 40-second rapid fire stage? (See, I started reading the booklet I won. )
And why are my feet killing me when I was prone half the day? Seriously, day one was awesome! I can't wait to get back out tomorrow. |
