From what I understand, in MS, over .38cal, single shot, breech loading. So would that make a AR-15 in 450 bushy converted to a singe shot, breach load be legal?  Just break it open and  "unlock" the bolt from the carrier and load one at a time. I could machine the parts to make the conversion work. Not really looking to do this, just wondering if it would be legal/work.

In Ms , you can hunt during primitive season with a breech load single shot.
That is why single shot .45-70's are selling so well there.

That will not work.  The law is you can use a single shot break open with exposed hammer.  It can be a reproduction but the model of the gun and the caliber have to be pre 1900.  I use a 45-70 handy rifle.

I just purchased a 450 Bushmaster to hunt with during regular season.
I love the 450 its like throwing bricks with 1.5 minuet of angle.

Not any longer.  They changed that part this year, so you can use T/C rifles.  You now can use .35 and larger also.

Oh ok. Does it still have to be exposed hammer? I will prolly just get a handi rifle from richies pawn or something. In .444, thats a great round since I am not going to reload 45-70

the last time I read the rules, they excluded any rifle with interchangable barrels....mainly to get rid of the T/Cs. Seems some people were not happy with the 45/70 and would stash 30-06s! lol

Also, I was using a 45/70 and bought a .44mag this year. Combo with a silencer......
Its going to be nice to be able to drop some .44spls in and take out those DAMN squirrells!!! Then drop the .44mag in for the meat shot!
Ever been hunting and see a coyote/bobcat/fox/armadillo/'possum and not want to take the shot for fear of ruining the days hunt for old mossy horns? or his tasty wife?
Problem solved.

I will be hunting in MS this year, so I am buying a T/C Encore chambered in .375 H&H for primitive weapon season.  Should be fun.
