Well I'm officially moving to the Mobile area for a job in the next 2 months or so. I have a LA CCW now that will cover me when I first get there. However, how hard is it to get a AL CCW? I understand it's more of a local decision and not truly shall issue. I will be living in Mobile or Baldwin county. Would appreciate it if someone from that area could let me know what the application process is like and how easy it is. I grew up in CA which is a similar local decision (which means it's basically impossible to get in most areas). I hope AL isn't the same way.

In Mobile, it's basically shall issue.  You go to the sheriff's department, fill out a easy form, they do a quick background check, they take your picture, you hand over $25 and they hand you a pistol permit.  Usually takes about 15 minutes and you're out the door.  Very easy.  The permit is good for 1 year and you can renew by mail every year after.

If you can't get a permit in AL you have done something wrong.
