| wife went to w'mart yesterday, had several carts of groceries -when she got home she was madder than hell. seems someone has acquired her dl# and is trying tp pass bogus checks, result is all accounts connected to her dl are shut down - includes her business she's had over 10 years, had to leave all her groceries in the check out line, embarassed as hell, see manager, got fraud info, took me about an hour on the phone to straighten out. bogus checks are completely out of sequence and account #s as ours. we are going to cash only. recommend you get another id source than dl. |

holy crap, are you serious? wow. I hope everything gets worked out ok for you. My mother-in-law had some checks stolen from the back of her check book a few months ago. The thief wrote themselves checks in small amounts over time hoping not to get noticed. They did notice and the bank refunded the money and all and last I heard was still pursuing the thieves. Nuts. |
| in 32 years of marriage can't remember seeing her so mad. her fear was that the $ in the accounts was gone. wasn't until she got home that we found out why the accounts were locked. store also didn't know why, just that both business and personal accounts were shut down |
My wife and I are using cash a lot more now as well. There are just to many opportunities for someone to steal your debit card info, credit card info, or check info. I could only imagine what horrible things would happen if a one armed man found that thief in a dark ally. And it brings a smile to my face  ...
