I just wanted to let everyone here know how much I enjoyed the Shootrite Defensive Carbine Course taught by Tiger McKee.
I was scheduled to take this course with three officers from another department, however, due to schedule shifts I was the only one to take the course. Tiger was kind enough to provide me with three days of private instruction.
Though I am no stranger to handgun classes, this was my first carbine class. I had heard and read about Tiger and I was not disappointed in the least.
We spent the first day on fundamentals and after that it was off to the races. We spent time on tactical situations, movement, cover, and when darkness fell, low light shooting.
The course ended with close quarter combat and then "the wall" which is a course of different shooting situations 60 yards from the target.
All in all I could not have been more pleased with the course and I felt it offered a great introduction to the use of the AR 15 as a defensive weapon.
I highly recommend the course and I plan on taking other courses from Tiger McKee. He is an excellent instructor and knows what he is teaching.

And how does a person get in on these classes?

Tiger is the best. He will not give up until you can shoot safely and accurately.
I was a tough student

I took an introductory handgun course from him in January to check things out. I'm interested in his defensive handgun class- think it's on a weekend in Sept. Very patient, no "attitude." I also purchased a book he wrote which may give you some insight. I've squirreled away 1k WWB 9mm for the occasion. Going to look for some footware this weekend for sandy clay lots of loose rock environment. I've heard nothing but good things and I'm surprised something like this is located so close to me.
