I went to Livingston University in the early 80'S and haven't been down there in several years.I live in NC and was wondering how things were around Tuscaloosa,Meridan etc.I sure miss it-some of the best people I have ever known were there.Maybe one day I'll be able to move back.I did go to MS to help after Katrina and was amazed at the damage.

I'm around Tuscaloosa, I love it, you weren't real specific with any questions though so let me know and I'll do my best to answer them.

My uncle is a retired professor from Univ West AL.  It's really turned into ghetto G-tug honkey donkey ding-dong town, unfortunately.  Not sure about the rest of the area tho

Theres still some damage in Meridian and areas south. Meridian is still the hole it  was twenty five years ago. But there is a bigger mall. And also a local smut peddler(his&hers store) located outside of the city limits. A few more places to eat. Less places to work. And no place to shoot.  Jim

Livingston has its own Wal-Mart.  The Mennonites have a bread store down town that is worth going out of your way for the bread and deserts.  The campus has grown some.

There are plans to extend I-85 from Montgomery to Cuba/Meridian.  The area between Tuscaloosa and Gadsden, Montgomery and Huntsville is just growing like crazy.  Un-employment in the Tuscaloosa area is below 3%.

I lived in Greensboro, NC for a while - reminded me of Birmingham.

In my travels I always end up going home to Alabama.
