I'm moving to Gardendale next week.

Can anyone tell me who is the best power company to use?

Also, there is no cable running to the house.  Anyone use some kind of satellite service?

With no cable I'm wondering what kind of high speed internet is available.

Finally, can anyone recommend a moving company.  I just need one to help unload the truck.

Thanks.

there is only one power company.

alabama power.

with no cable service direct tv or dish network is your only option.

where are you moving in Gdale? i am in morris/kimberly about 5 miles north of there. no cable service and ZERO highspeed. cell phone internet or sat. is the only option and niether are very cost effecient out here. If you don't qualify for dsl expect dialup connections of around 28.8-33.6 at best.

phone service suck in this area.

I'm not sure where in Gardendale I'm at because I don't  know the are very well.  It's not far off of the highway in one of the dreaded cookie cutter housing communities.  I'm trying to get everything lined up so that I'll have power and whatnot when I get there.  I don't think I can survive without highspeed internet so I'll have to get moving on that one.

I've been looking at a few of the ranges around town.  FOP looks good and there was another that looked pretty good also.  Where is the closest GOOD range to Gardendale?

Thanks.

Sheriff's range on the weekends is free and about 5 minutes from you.
FOP is open all week and $15 weekday / $10 weekend, but a bit of a trip to Pleasant Grove (see the link I listed up above)
There are some private places too that you mgiht be able to get in on, and an indoor pistol range in downtown B'ham.

Honestly, I find the best places are off in familiar woods in the area. (peaceful, don't have to deal with people's crap and watch your back)

for ranges fop can't be beat it's ony about 20 miles from gdale.

heritage is also supposed to be a great place if your into ebr's and class 3.

fop only has range fees if your not a member. membership is only about 10-15.00 per month. <200.00 per year> Let me know if you decide on a membership at fop i can work you a deal with the owner as part of our crew. <he used to give a deal>

I'm in Pinson (a few miles east of gardendale) and have internet service through Charter cable. It's okay most of the time, but they do occationally have issues. If you are close enough to a phone interchange box (whatever they're called) you could get DSL service. You should ask the realtor you're working with to find out about that for you. Otherwise you can go through the satellite people, but I think those people are a bit high on their prices. Haven't checked lately though. Good luck!

I wish I had some woods to shoot in close by. Plenty of woods around, but most seem to be hunting clubs and I don't know the owners. People near me used to shoot in an abandoned quarry near here, but a couple of years ago the quarry people put up a bunch of fences and no trespassing signs. So much for that. Where is this Sheriff's range? Might have to check that out.

Yep. As soon as the quarry people saw that the northern beltline was in the 5 year plan (not that it'll actually get done), they started fiddling around with the place and trying to get their permits in order since the road will only be a few miles south of there. Of course, now that someone found 8k year old indian artifacts right in the middle of the road right of way, I'll bet that road won't get done for a lot of years. So we're out a shooting place and we won't even get a road to show for it. Maybe after a while the quarry people will calm down and quit bothering people again. Not counting on it though.
