Alabama Vote Opens Old Racial Wounds I think we all knew this was coming; according to this MSNBC hit piece, white Alabamians are a bunch of racist rednecks who are still fighting the Civil War and standing in schoolhouse doors because Amendment 2 was voted down, and anyone who thinks the amendment had anything to do with education taxation is a conspiracy theorist who thinks the federal government is out to get them. ![]() I apologize if this is a duplicate topic. |
| It seems here in Alabama we cant just keep things simple, trying to sneek things in (say taxs) is what defeated this at least there were enough educated people in the state to over come the emotional voters. Anytime you give the Gov a chance for more money they will take it. I have a proposal instead of rasing taxes why not just close and combine school systems. Can anyone tell me why every small little city has its own school system with admins that pull in hundreds of thousands a year in pay? Less school systems less people to pay, meaning more money for stuff thats needed. Whats the old saying to many chiefs and not enough indians. Run the bill through clean and it can pass. |
Would you send your children to Birmingham schools? Fire 1/2 of those in administration. Only 52% of money gets to classroom |
Yep - www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=31&t=187232 Like I predicted - no win for us, either way... |
That's the thread I was referring to in my original post.
