In today's world, I do not know if it is worth it.
1) An order of expungement will not change what comes up on the FBI DB from a NICS check.
2) An expungement will not stop internet searches showing ones criminal history. That history goes in a lot of directions. A lot that is done for profit. A lot of that is not under the control of the state government. There are people out there who have arrest from 15 - 20 years back, with no convictions, and court orders for "all evidence, both physical and electronic to be destroyed", who still show up on the most basic of Yahoo and Google home page searches with a criminal history. Everyday, more and more historical data is dumped into the public purview.
Such MIGHT be of value for very specific employment considerations.
