Much like our state this section is boring. Very little traffic with very little shooting threads. Are we a state/section full of fuds? With such a friendly 2A state as ours and as many public ranges we just don't have much traffic or matches or anything.... what gives?

Everyone is stuck in traffic too much to post.  It's road construction, lawn mowing, and farming season.

but yeah, it is slow in here.

Not seeing the large amount of ranges though.  See a bunch of indoor stuff and then some strict outdoor ranges.  Not my idea of fun.  Makes me miss AK, where I would drive 50 or so miles out to find a place to shoot without folks bugging me.

While no doubt that's true, it ended up not holding my interest and I haven't been on there in several years.

I rarely come in here , but in years past I used to meet with a few guys every month or more to go shoot at one of the DNR ranges. Sure we could not get too crazy, but we would grill out and just BS for awhile. All that seems to have drifted away as everyone got families and so on.

I have been to a couple of INGO shoots in the Northwest area of the state and they get a good crowd of people. They put on a big BBQ and even have some giveaways and such. The last shoot the wife and I went to was just ok, just not my crowd I guess.

Ah well.

I did join a range in Michigan thats close to my work so I hope that works out!!!

Michigan HTF has been pretty quiet too.  I think everyone is out hunting for mushrooms.

There's matches almost every weekend in Indiana.

We're all just out shooting instead of sitting in front of a screen

The HTF is pretty slow here. I still check-in occasionally to see if there's anything interesting going on. Maybe scan the local EE while I'm here.

Shooting-wise, there's a lot going on in the South-Central part of the state. We are blessed with two 500 yard ranges near Madison, as well as a 200 yard DNR range near North Vernon. Some folks host small carbine classes, matches and other run n gun type events. And of course, many of us within reasonable driving distance frequent Knob Creek. There are numerous pistol, 2 and 3-gun matches down there.

So, as haydendavid said, we stay pretty busy.

What type pf matches do you guys run down there?  I was hoping to get into  PRS match and would really love to go to a" heavy metal" course but I'm not going to Florida just for that.

I'm not currently running any myself, but am in the early planning stages of both precision and combat rifle matches at our local range. Those will be held in the Madison area at a 500 yard range.
In nearby Switzerland County, the Switzerland County Sportsman's Club hosts occasional long range shoots. Next one's scheduled for June 4.
There are regular NRA High Power and F-class matches at Camp Atterbury. Those are hosted by CIHPRS (central indiana high power rifle shooters).
The Southern Indiana Rifle and Pistol Club, near Borden, IN, hosts regular NRA HP, Mid-range prone and F-class matches.
Red Brush Rifle Range, near Newburgh IN,  hosts monthly tactical rifle matches.
The KPDL (Kentuckiana Practical Defense League) hosts monthly practical pistol matches, plus 2 and 3-gun matches on off weekends. All at Knob Creek in West Point, KY.
If you don't mind traveling a little farther, Rockcastle Shooting Center, down near Bowling Green, KY, runs 3-gun, precision and DMR matches.

I'm probably forgetting a few, but those all immediately come to mind.

A few of us are trying to find time to make it back up to Thunder Valley Precision in Kimbolton, OH. It's a long trip for us, but an amazing range. The Headhunter and Intimidator matches are great.

I did some training  with Tom two years ago at his place.TVP is amazing and being a flat lander it was neat shooting though the valleys. Now I do most of my shooting up at Youngs Longshot,  it's about an hour and half north of me. I have yet to see any match info posted at Youngs.

I'm interested in the tactical long gun stuff, be it bolt or semi auto. Are you going to post the info about you tactical match here?

Tom's a great guy. Super nice.

And yes. I'll post something up once I hammer out all the details on a match. It may be a while, so please be patient. This stuff is like herding cats.
In the meantime, I'm hoping to hit the June match in Switzerland County, a DMR match at Rockcastle and hopefully a tactical match at Red Brush. That would make for a nice Summer. Some friends and I attended a few Mammoth Sniper Challenges back in 2011 & 12, but haven't been back. We may have to revisit those sometime as well.

Both Switzerland County Sportsman's Club and Deputy Big Shot offer 500 yard ranges. Hopefully, DBS's zoning issue will quickly be resolved. In the meantime, they're open for business. Was just there today.
