My wife really likes the look and feel of a S&W J frame, but has yet to try shooting one.  Anyone able to help a fella out? We live by Lafayette. Would like to meet at a range and try a few rounds. Would certainly be willing to cover ammo costs and even lunch.  Thanks!

Which type of J frame? Steel 640, Aluminum 642/637/638 etc or the Titianium/Scandium types like the 340?
