I've never really been big on how accurate my rifle shooting is.

Marlin 60 "Micro groove barrel" - BSA R4X15 (Walmart scope) - Never zeroed it - Ammo was just some bulk .22 LR

How good of shooting is a 15 round 3" diameter group from 50 yards with a bench rest?  Total time for all 15 shots was 15 seconds.

Is there any god way to zero a rifle without affixing the rifle to a solid frame?

I didn't want to get flamed in GD, so I'd appreciate any feedback.

At 50 yards with that ammo and that qucikly... Pretty good.
When zeroing a rifle, I use lead shot bags and try to "nest it in" on the bench as best as I can and make certain I duplicate my weld and arm positions as best as possible.
Your shots were really quick though.  I don't see how you could have had a proper breathing pattern

Can you recommend a good how to online guide (not looking for a 500 page novel)?

My breathing method is as follows:

-  Shallow

-  In through nose

-  Out through mouth

-  Fire

-  Maintain cross hairs on target

-  Repeat

I'd love to meet with someone in SW Indiana who can teach me a few things.  I really need guidance on handguns.  I know I don't have the best handgun (Sig P6 stock), but I've never been able to obtain consistent groupings at 10-25 yards.  I can always hit center mass, but my precision has always been non-consistent.  I've always had 20/12 vision, so I know it's probably a technique, gun (I'm sure a longer barreled 9mm would help, as would not using reloads, issue.

Anyway if anyone in SW Indiana wants to take a 23 year old and his 19 year old girlfriend under his wing, let me know.  You would be compensated...and the GF is NOT the compensation!

Thanks

Where in SW Indiana?  I have a pistol and rifle range and may be willing to lend some instruction
and range time in exchange for a little labor.

Your group was decent at that speed.  Not great, but decent.  If you can do that group offhand
then you are doing great.

For rifle shooting check out http://www.appleseedinfo.org.
Probably the best rifle basic marksmanship training for civilians out there.  Cheap, and women get in free.
They just had one in Evansville last month.

For online information on precision rifle shooting, www.snipershide.com can't be beat.

You might consider investing in a quality shooting sling once you get the fundamentals of proper marksmanship down.  They're not the cheapest things around, but you might look into a Latigo sling which is available through Brownell's and probably other outlets as well.  Slings aren't bench rest solid, but you'll just about be able to hold the X ring on an A-23 target (the NRA 50yd competition target) if you can do your part.

How far SW are you in SW Indiana?  Are we talking Bedford SW or more like Mount Vernon?  If you're fairly close to Bedford, I'm about a 30min drive from there and I'd be willing to meet up some weekend.

Jackson County here ...............if you are close enough, I would be happy to go shooting with you anytime.  I have private property to shoot on, or there is a local range as well.  Furthermore, I have a few things in the safe you could try out to see what you might like or shoot better.

I was shooting from a rest that stabilized the barrel.  I think it had sand in the base.  I couldn't find a picture online, but it was red and plastic.  Here is the best mspaint I could do.
