I'm just a little curious how long everyone else has been waiting for your permits to show up. Its been 8 weeks now since I went in to renue my permit and get my life time. As of right now, nothing has shown up.
I'm starting to worry, my old permit expired the other day. for what its worth, I live in Marian county. |

They should have told you, but hold on to your application. It will serve as your permit while it's in processing for a set period of time (30 days I think).
It took me about 6 weeks, but I wasn't going for it during this time. The wait times reported, and the delays in gun purchases have gone up, so I would wager you're one of many right now. ETA: Take my first statement and instead of using it as proof, call the Sheriff to confirm. |

And thank you that your question was NOT "how much longer before the lifetime permits get banned, because the gunshop dude said blah blah blah." LOL, your welcome, I probably could have phrased my subject better. I learned a long time ago that most of the stuff I heard in a gun shop was BS. For the most part, I do my research ahead of time and know what I'm looking for and keep up on my politics. I've had my personal protection permit for 12 years now, in the past it has normally onely taken 6 weeks. I know last week was a holiday so I figure that is part of it, and I figured I'd got the application in before the rush as I did it on Oct 8th. |

this should piss you off,
I had a week before mine expired.I went to the fountain Co sherriff on oct 14 and nov 18 I had my lifetime in the box. all I did was go in fill out the paper give prints and cash then left.no notary or anything else, they even did the mailings for me. can't complain AT ALL. |

wow, im going on week 6 right now. I dont think I can hold out another 4 weeks lol
has anyone tried calling the Indy police dept lately? I tried calling Monday last week at 3:15, and no one would pick up the phone. I mean NO ONE. I called 6 different numbers and there was no one there. I tried about 1/2 an hour later and got the same thing. I left a message for someone to contact me, but I have not received a return call. am I missing something? should I be calling someone different? I live in fayette county if that helps, and I was told 4-6 weeks for my permit. |

Marion County/Indpls is the wrong place to call. Either your local LEO is still processing it (unlikely; they should send you notice when they forward it to the State), or else it's still waiting to clear at the State level. Either way, Marion County/Indpls has nothing to do with your Fayette County application. I assume the State-level clearing is conducted by the ISP, but I doubt they can/will field phone calls asking about progress. I'd also be concerned (not very, but a little) that if you look over-eager, your app might get extra scrutiny that would delay it further. I wish LTCH's were getting issued within the 60 days the statute requires, but I'll just wait quietly and patiently for mine. |

I think part of the problem I am running into is that my local police that I did the paperwork with, told me I needed to call the firearms dept of the Indy police department. I guess I can go to my State Police and ask them, as they were pretty willing to help me with getting the paperwork, and told me to come back if I needed any more help with my permit. Im not so much concerned with a progress report, as I am with wanting to know if they got the paperwork. I would hate to have paid out all this money, and waited all this time, just to be told that they havent gotten any of my paperwork. |

If you want to check on the status of you application you can call the Indiana State Police Firearms Licensing Section at 317-233-5054. I have called before and they have been very helpful.
10 weeks seems to be about the normal turnaround time now. By the way, did you know residents of four counties, Marion, Howard, Miami and Wells, can apply online now. You still have to visit your local PD for payment but maybe it will speed up processing a little. Hopefully they will make the process state wide soon. |
