I have an LE6920 AR 15 that I bought in 2015. I live in VA, but some friends are going shooting tomorrow in Maryland. I am pretty sure I cannot bring it into Maryland because I bought it after Oct 2013 and it does not have a heavy barrel.

Am I correct, or is it possible to shoot at a range in Maryland with it?

Not legal, at the range no one cares. The problem would be if you were stopped by the police on the way to the range.
