Its an interesting first week here in Maryland. I haven't been here in almost 15 years and that was way out west when I was here last. Needless to say I'm enjoying my time so far. Lots of time on the roads in and around the Baltimore-Washington Highway. One thing is certain y'all yankee's will cut a fella off in a heartbeat... gonna trigger some flashbacks to Iraq in me.
Anywho, I'm up here for another four weeks or and I'm looking for nice places to eat and friendly drinking holes... Any suggestions? P.S: I have a BFL on my truck, catch me and we'll have a beer when I can. Don't approach me out in town just drop a line here and I'll let you know when its good. |

I could of sworn I saw one in St Mary's county last time I was down there. Maybe it went out of business.

Central part of Maryland doesn't look or act south but the rest of Maryland does. I've seen grits the menues of local diners around here, on the Eastern Shore, and you can find it in stores. There's a Hardee's down the street from me. Unfortunatly we are a little tainted by our proximity to DC and Philly. Around here we cook in butter and lard and deep fry everything. Come on to the Eastern Shore to try some crab cakes and a Smith Island Cake.
The last time I was in Georgia I tried explaining the Mason Dixon line and all I got back were blank stares. Had a "Colonel in the Southern Army" tell he made a vow that his cannon would never make it north of the Mason Dixon line unless to retaliate but since it's his daughter's wedding he'll have to make an exception. I had a hard time convincing him that Maryland was south of the line and he wouldn't be breaking his vow. But that line was what divides the South from the North and Maryland is south of it. |
