Looks like some pretty smart guys decided to make machine guns.  Bad news is they got caught.

Probably just too many people to keep quiet.

It's unfortunate that we have all the issues in this country that are destroying every facet of what we call our way of life, and they go around arresting people for exercising an enumerated right.

So - like 7 months old?  They get to trial yet?

Randy is my personal FFL and I know for a fact that he is innocent of all charges and has, in fact, been putting up with all this BS from the ATF for almost three years now. You can still use his license to get what you need as I just had a stripped lower transferred to me off the EE through him. Most of the coordination by phone if you call during the day is with his wife, Gail, who's also nice as heck. The ATF really wants the guys from AZ who SOLD the machine guns to Randy. Ironically, the ATF APPROVED the paperwork for the transfer and Randy had no idea that the other guy was shady since it was simply an internet purchase, as the article kind of mentions. Imagine if you bought a lower from a no-name brand company you hadn't heard of and the ATF approved your paperwork, but then nailed you for THEIR mistake ... complete nonsense. Randy's lawyer they couldn't reach for comment ... guess what: he's ex-ATF and says the case against Randy is utter BS, too. If you're in the area, I would encourage you to help Randy out by doing all your transfers through him whenever possible. He doesn't charge much either - I think it's only like $20 for transfers, which is far cry better than Ted at Engage Armament nearby.

The only reason this trash made the news at all in 2010, even though it was two years old even then, is because that's when the ATF built enough of a "case" against the AZ guys. I get it, raid a legit FFL, steal his stuff, then build a case over two years - sounds like guilty until proven innocent to me.

ETA: Spoke to Randy two weeks ago. As of that time, he hadn't been to trial in a while since the ATF doesn't really have a case on him at all and is busy trying to nail the AZ guys, who may actually be guilty of something.

I would like his info as well.  Is this why we don't see him at gun shows as of late?
If this is who I think it is, his shop was near the Popeye's by Rt 50 and he used
to set up his table in the near right corner on the floor at PG Equestrian Center during Silverado
Gun Shows.

Wrong guy, I believe. Randy works out of a Mercedes-only auto shop he runs in Silver Spring, MD.
However, he does/did have a second home (which he's selling to cover legal fees), so for all I know he could've run another shop too.

Anyway, PM of his info sent.

I have been asking around about this. I don't know all the details but from what I have been able to gather:

Somebody was taking MAC-10's and removing the portion of the receiver containing the serial number, welding it onto newly (illegally) made M1919 machine guns and selling them slightly below their market price, essentially turning a $3000 machine gun into a $20000 machine gun. Eventually someone at the NFA branch noticed the caliber and length changes.

I don't know exactly how the attachment of the original serial number was done as to be inconspicuous.

Randy is so well-off that he is the last person in the world who would need to run this scam for profit, so the consensus is that an overzealous ATF agent is railroading him trying to make a hand for himself.
