Went to a gun bash in Oakland, MD.....way the heck out in Garrett County yesterday. About 700 people there. They raffled off 45 guns. Almost all hunting rifles and shotguns. Just the right stuff for all the good ol' boys there. They did raffle off a DPMS heavy-barrel AR. Tickets to the event were $25, and that included a chance on 25 guns, a great BBQ dinner with all the trimmings, and all the beer you could drink. Chances on the other 20 guns could be bought for $3 or $5, depending on the gun.
Gun bashes are regularly held in that part of the country, and are used to raise money for volunteer fire departments and other non-profits. It seems like a real good way to raise funds, and am wondering why they don't have them a little closer to the more civilized areas of the state. Don't get me wrong... Garrett County is absolutely beautiful, but it's an awfully long drive. |
