New rifle range with new benches and sighting gear.
Well I think that is great news! Its county sponsored (as it should be) and the times I was there, the folks were kind and respectful to me. It is limited to being only a "sight in" or "bench rest" range - but that's not a criticism. For what it is, i think they do a fine job.

As I recall the range was built using money from donations and fundraisers. Range fees pay for the bulk of, if not all of, the other maintenance costs. |
I recall one of the RO's telling me it was one of the only facilities in the rec and parks dept that was fully self supporting and the rec and parks affiliation was for liability and other legal reasons. ETA - I'm not so sure Claire would be happy with the affiliation.
