Alrighty,
I mailed out my collector's license application a week and a half ago.  About how long does it take to get it processed?

I got mine back in a week

I got mine back in a week, but since it is the Holidays it may take longer.

I also wonder if they might be getting a lot of them in since the election?

It won't be a long wait.  About 2 weeks for mine if I remember correctly.

Mine took a full month, I had to call them and they were behind since they were doing something for a gunshow that was happening that time ..

I told them to hurry up ..and they laughted at me on the phone :)

Yeah, when I called the state police about buying a match AR (non-HBAR marked) as seperate components to avoid it being a restricted weapon, the Sgt. on the phone was actually pretty cool.  He laughed about the BS gun regulations here.

When you say "collector's license application" do you mean your collector's status application to MSP or your federal C&R license from ATF? The collector's status w/ MSP should run 2-3 weeks, the C&R can take 4-12 weeks.

Yea, I think the letter I got back from MSP said something like, you are herby granted permission as a collector and are not restricted to the stupid 1 gun every 30 day rule.

Ok, maybe they didn't write in stupid, but the way the letter is worded, they wanted to.

I think mine took about 2 weeks, but that was like 6 years ago.

I got the paper back in about 2 months, but I was a "collector" in the system about 2 weeks into the process (I saw a transmittal with collector status=yes or some such thing).

YES, I AM ALL THAT!! Why? Because I just got Collector's status approved last week.  Patience, my friend.  It takes about two weeks.

Then mine should be coming soon.  It will be two weeks on Thursday.

Mine got approved right away like in 3 days after I dropped it off but like somebody else said it might take a lot longer for them to send the letter out.

[#14]
it will be one paper, saying that you have approved if you dont have any crimail which i doubt any of us do ...

if we can get firearms, we can get approved :)

Enjoy it and i plan to buy several since i didnt win the team raffle thing :)

Here comes the Glock 19, one doublestar lower and maybe a Deer hunting rifle someday as i get about 1,200 for my bonus at the end of the year :)

Nothing in the mail today.  Maybe Tuesday.

How bout an update?  Mine took ten to fourteen days IIRC.  Of course, that wasn't the holidays.

Don't worry, and don't waste too much time waiting on the mail truck. Even two months is a possibility on getting the letter itself. But you were probably approved and in the database within a week of sending it in. If you end up needing collector's status for a second purchase before the letter you can always call firearms licensing and ask if you're approved yet.

Don't feel bad. I've been waiting since the beginning of December. I called to check on it just to make sure it hadn't gotten lost in the system about two weeks after dropping it off. Sgt. on the line told me it had been approved but they probably just hadn't sent out the letter yet. Nonetheless, he confirmed I could now truthfully claim collector status on the applications and I since have with no problems. Letter would be nice to have in hand though for any potential two-fer-one deal since dealers seem to like to see them (as if I can afford anything more.....  )
