I GOT MY C&R, I GOT MY C&R, I GOT MY C&R, I GOT MY....   well, you get the idea.

So now what?  Who do I send it off to to get all the cool deals?

The $150 question is....what do I get first??  I'm thinking SKS.

Congrats and welcome to the world of Bankruptcy. Enjoy your stay!

Send your C&R A SINGED IN INK COPY, DO NOT SIGN THE ORIGINAL to all of these places:

A nice Yugo SKS is really a good way to go. I put a 20round mag on mine and it shoots great with more capacity.

What is a C&R and should I be trying to get one?

By the way, congratulations, since based on your reaction it seems to be a good thing.

A C&R (Curio and Relic) license allows one to order many different Military and some civilian surplus firearms from a dealer or other C&R holder direct and have shipped right to your door. This goes for handguns and also some Fully Automatics to your door.

Also, it many cases you are able to get a dealer discount from such places like Brownells for gun parts, tools and accessories.

All you have to do is fill out the C&R application, Proof of citizenship form and mail it off to the ATF and send a copy to your local CLEO.
$30 and about 3 weeks later you get your C&R

Best part for Marylanders you can have a wide array of handguns and the MDSP will never know about it and you don’t have to wait 10 days to get the thing.

What can't you buy with a C&R?

Mor eimportantly can you buy AR's?

How is this different from an FFL? You are not required to sell anything with a C&R?

When you get your package from the BATF, it comes with a bunch of info.  One booklet is  the official "Firearms Curios or Relics List".   I'm sure you could find this list on the web somewhere.  And no, ARs in general, are not part of this list.

However, specifically listed under Section II is Colt AR-15 Sporter "The Viet Nam Tribute Colt Special Edition"  .223 cal semiautomatic rifle, bearing the American Historical Foundation registry numbers of VT0001 through VT1500.

Quote from the bottom of the license itself: "Having this license does not authorize the holder to engage in the business of dealing in any firearms."  Not a FFL.

Can you resell the firearms at all?  Say I get a C&R, get a non-regulated firearm in MD, then want to sell it to a friend down the road.

Check out the BATF website.  From their FAQ:

"Does a collector's license afford any privileges to the licensee with respect to acquiring or disposing of firearms other than curios or relics in interstate or foreign commerce?

No. A licensed collector has the same status under the Gun Control Act (GCA) as a nonlicensee except for transactions in curio or relic firearms.

[27 CFR 178.93]"

You can only transact C&R firearms.    There's a whole list of firearms that qualify, but they all meet this rule:

"To be recognized as curios or relics, firearms must fall within one of the following categories:

1.) Have been manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas thereof; or
2.) Be certified by the curator of a municipal, state or Federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest; or
3.) Derive a substantial part of their monetary value from the fact that they are novel, rare, bizarre, or from the fact of their association with some historical figure, period, or event.

[27 CFR 178.11]"

I'm only in on this for the discounts !

So, did you decide on what gun to get?

No, not yet.  I just got the rest of my info yesterday.  I'm in on that 458 upper GB right now, so, my additional money will probably go towards the ammo GB that's going along with it.

My first purchase will probably be an SKS though.  Cheap and simple.

You probably missed it, but I offered you to make a whole lot of good quality copies of your C&R.

I can bring them right you your house if you want.

I have had my C&R for about a year and half. My collection is outgrowing my safe. The best purchase was my Garand from from the CMP. The CMP will accept the your C&R instead of the shooting req.  I agree with M4 on the handgun thing, that's why I originally got mine.

You can try for a Reising Submachine gun.  That gun is a C&R.  It is Select Fire too.  While the magazines are a bit pricy, figure a base $150 each going by the Harrisburg Gun Show last weekend, it is something to think about.

Go into the Bowers site and the list of Recommended Dealers.  Check out Dennis Todd.  He was the one selling them last weekend in Harrisburg.  Now while he is located on the outskirts of Philadelphia, he is the one who I bought my Machine Guns from.

If you want a C&R sub-gun, it would be hard to beat the price of a Reising.

I never thought to get a C&R, but I might just for the hell of it. (Great, another reason to spend money )

I noticed on the citizenship form that under line 2 is the "Name of person Certifying to citizenship."  The wording is somewhat confusing and to be clear, it's me right?

What kind of handguns does this license allow you to buy without hassles?

You can get any handgun that is classified as a C&R such as, a CZ52 for $89 in unissued cond, delivered to your door.

One point I wanted to make is that ALL NFA rules apply. Can't buy a full auto with a C&R.

Oh yeah you can.

Only thing you need is CLEO sign off. You don’t need to pay the $200 Tax stamp or go through a Class III dealer. You can have it shipped right to your door as long as you have a C&R, CLEO sign off (which is easy to get in MD to many surprise) and if its a valid C&R Full Auto gun.

Go to www.atf.gov/firearms/curios/index.htm and see all the full auto listed.

No $hit! I didn't know that. I was misinformed! Hmmmm.......I may have to look into that. What MSP Barrack do you go to for the CLEO sign off? Are there special forms that need to get filled out by the CLEO?
