As a guy from the south, I want to say I am very proud and pleased that ya'll have elected such a great
patriot , with understanding of the founding principles of this once great nation. It instills hope in me and other patriots , that we can reconstitute this nation, by the ballot or force of arms, for the second amendment is the last defence against tyranny! "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants" Thomas Jefferson |
I agree. While she may not be the best spoken politician, I believe that SHE believes what she says. That is a damn fine quality, and a damn hard quality to find in politicians. Minnesota is an odd place, Bachman on one side and Franken on the other. We are sorry about Franken stealing that deal.
Maybe Michele helps even that out a little. Ed |

the left always calls her a moonbat... but who the hell are THEY to judge ?
my only concern is she recently backed / endorsed some slimey politician, cant remember his name right now. Amy Klobuchar needs to find her way to unemployment ASAP. Al Franken... is a fraud, plain and simple. they counted votes for him they should NOT have. fuck him. |
|
Bachman is the best we have out there. Too many others have proven themselves to be cowards on the tough issues.
Klobuchar and Franken have no regard for the constitution, so we have to work from the House and forget the senate. I hope Bachman gets more visibility and experience on the national stage. She could really turn things around for us. |

I'm never ashamed to have voted for her twice. ETA: I stood next to her at the convention center gun show a few years ago with a gun ready to rock concealed. if she had known it probably would have made for good conversation. she always talks about growing up in Anoka where we have Federal Cartridge and Tom Knapp.

Thank goodness for The Red Star Tribune that pointed out that she misstated a fact & she did it MORE THAN ONCE!
[/sarcasm] Another hit piece by the ultra left wing media. They never even mentioned Peloi's continued comments last year about the U.S. losing 500 million jobs a month.

I have mixed feelings about her. i agree. while she is very honest and passionate about her beliefs, i don't think that's what makes a good politician. they're not there to shoot from their gut or think with their heart or vote with their conscience or be swayed by their wallet or re-election. they're there to execute the will of their constituents. period. i think i'd prefer a platform robot to any federal level politician sitting today. this district's platform is lower taxes and no gun control? that's all the robot votes or cares about . another district's platform is 90% tax on the wealthy and solar powered kittens for all? that should be all that robot votes or cares about. that's their scary version of democracy. over 50% of the people want it. that should be the horizon we're walking towards - representation. emotional response and identifying with the person shouldn't have a thing to do with it. if a gay, hippie, dope shooting burnout that cheats on his for-show wife runs for governor on exactly the platform i believe in, i'm voting for him. and if he doesn't vote like he promised, i'm not voting for him again. that may be the problem with government - no mid-term lynchings for stepping off the platform. that's probably where this, "do i trust this person?" mis-guided question started. i don't need to trust them. i don't trust anybody. i just need them to do their job. |

The measure of a good politician is : do they follow and believe
in the founding principles , as the original intent of the constitution outlines. To make sure the feds do only those things outlined there in.To keep the Federal Gov. the hell out of my life and let freedom flourish. From what I have heard from her,and what others have said of her, I believe she understands these principles, but I don't live there, ya'll know her better than I. I think if we start with people like her and to the right of her,we could start to turn some of this around.Demand Repubs. put up real conservatives for office. In omnia pratus |

Cheap? Yes. Those farms are owned by her family's trust...meaning that her input is likely limited and subject to overrule by other trustees...if she's even a trustee.
It reminds me of the story about John Kerry back in 2004. He was seen riding around in expensive SUVs. Kerry's opponents seized the opportunity to call him a hypocrite. Kerry realized this and said that his family owned the vehicles, not him. The deflection worked and the matter was forgotten...until now. Quoted:
also, her families farm got state or federal subsidies, did it not? BUT, what farm doesnt ? so i think thats a cheap leftist attack on her. |

Didn't most all tax payers got a tax "rebate" check last year. Or maybe a cash for clunker check, a first time home buyers tax credit, a tax credit for an appliance, unemployment, earned income tax credit, welfare, food stamps or maybe a Pell grant. One could argue these are federal subsidies. I think I covered just about everybody here. I guess according to socialist statests we are all taking subsidies. Attacking Michelle Bachman for taking a farm subsidy, offered by the government is stupid. I'd say it would be stupid for her not to take it. The government gets enough of our money. Personally I don't like ANY federal subsidies, but if I could get one I'd take it. Oh, we live in a democratic-republic not just a democracy. A democracy gives you whatever government the whim of the people want; a robot government ruled by the masses or mob it you will. Politicians need to be leaders elected by us, and be beholding to the Constitution which they swear on oath to uphold. Sometimes that oath forces you to do things that your constituents don't find popular. Not exactly a pure democracy. Ed I wish I could vote for Michelle Bachman, but I live in John Kline's district. |

Great point Ed. Our federal gov't representatives take an oath to uphold the constitution, no do whatever their constituents ask. The whims of the common man cannot overwrite the rule of law, which is why the founders chose a republic rather than democracy. |

I decided to go check things out today. Ran down to the 'townhall' meeting and shook some hands. Then the wife and I stayed until the end of Rep. Bachmann's keynote address which was pretty good. She (and others) encouraged people to keep everyone's feet to the fire - make sure there isn't a "Republicans, Good, Democrats, Bad" mentality.
-TD P.S. She is better looking in person!
