I like trains...at one time the Northern Pacific could have taken you on the same ride...funded entirely by voluntary contributions. Then the Interstates came and decimated the railroads so that all we have left are shadows of what railroads once were.
Keep this in mind the next time someone wants to talk about government health care, particularly a "public option". The Interstate Highway System was the "public option" of transportation and put most railroads out of business, leaving the surviving ones nothing more than monopolistic monstrosities. |
