| since i lost sportsman's warehouse in st cloud, where are some good shops to get reloading supplies? i live by hutchinson, but would travel a couple hours to get powder and primers. please let me know where you all get your supplies and about how much a pound goes for these days. thanks!!! |

Been to Little Crow, and didn't notice any reloading stuff...then again I wasn't specifically looking at the time..this was maybe 7 or 8 months ago, so YMMV.
Cabelas in Rogers had at least some powder and large pistol primers (none else tho) when I went on Sunday. They're probably sold out by now though I haven't shopped Gunstop for reloading stuff in a while, but I'd be surprised if he didn't have anything... |
| I live in Hutchinson too, in the past I've bought primers and powder at Little Crow, but not sure what they have now. Gunstop in Minnetonka has a good reloading selection. Before November Scheels in St Cloud and Mankato always had a good supply, but lately it's pretty hit and miss. |

Most of the Alliant Powders are not hard to come by with the exceptions of Unique, Power Pistol, and BE are sort of hard to get right now. Most of the IMR Series of powders are hard to get with the popular 4895, 4064, and 3031 being really tough to get let alone any 8# jugs. Most of the Hodgdon powders are easier to get right now, save for Varget......and some can even be had in 8# jugs. Accurate powders seem to be easy to come by, and the same could be said of Ramshot powders.......VV are expensive and some variants can be hard to come by.
One must realize that most powders are not made in the USA. Alliant makes some in US in DE, but the RL Series is made in Europe in Sweden and Switzerland. IMR are mostly made in Canada and TB in Austrialia Win are made in USA in FL Hodgdon has their ball powders made in US in FL, and the extruded stuff in Austrialia Ramshot is made in US, Beligum, and Czech. Accurate is mostl made in Czeck. VV in Finland..... You have to take into account that many local vendors are at the whim of distributors......I know Little Crow and GS do get truck service from a vendor out of SW WI. And, other vendors like Jerry's does not ship commercial but rather via Fed Ex. so there is the haz mat charge incurred for shipments. And, there are other vendors that serve commercial ccounts with truck shipments. |

with the demise of SW there is no real selection of Ramshot in the metro. One might ask John at GS for him to stock more of the line up other then TAC if you want it. He has been keeping 1# and 8# of TAC on hand pretty regularly.
Primers are hard to get.....because what some of the black helicopter/tin foil hat crowd types fail to believe is that the mfgr's of primers are in the AMMO biz, and the components are a side line. And, not the Obama factor has not been the cause of primer problems totally... Federal stuff has been hard to get for the last three years...................long before the rise of BO. And, CCI has had QC issues with BR4 primers........ And, if you look at various online vendors......some have been turning primer orders around in about a month. When you factor in some people hoarding primers, the onslaught of new reloaders, and the regular reloaders needs it has made for tight market. Now, of course in 94 there was a Shortage of sorts......and people were gouging.............I know Bill's was gouging, way back when they had a reloading selection...... |

i just picked up a case of CCI small rifle primers at mels sports shop in spicer. He also had a buch of powder, just no varget I was in there last week, he wanted $45 per 1000 for primers and $25 per pound of powder. Its always been that high, but considering things these days, that might be cheap? I passed on them hoping that they will come back soon. Jon |

i picked up 2 lbs of 4895 or 4831 (forget which) at stcloud sheels last weekend. no varget. when i asked the guy how they had so much he looked at me funny, like he had no idea it was hard to come by $25/lb They know how hard is it to come by, the funny look was probably because you thought they were gonna sell you more than 2 :) (actually I dont think they are rationing the powder, but you probably saw the 'ration' signs on the handgun ammo case, and the primer case) |
