HANDGUN-1 COURSE by Defensive Edge
When: April 11, 2009 Where: Princeton, MN Cost: $200 Register through our website HERE The Handgun-1 Course is designed for the novice shooter or remedial training for the more experienced shooter. The handgun is primarily a defensive weapon. Small and easy to conceal, it is often the first choice when selecting a firearm for defense. The handgun is the most difficult to master in comparison to the shotgun, carbine/rifle, or sub-machine gun. If you are going to be relying on a handgun for self-defense, then you better be able to use it properly. Our emphasis is to introduce the Fundamentals of Firearms Safety to the novice, and will teach the skills necessary to properly use the revolver and semi-automatic handgun in a self-defense situation. Note: This is not a sit down course, as you will be on the range working from a holster with lots of hands on training. SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE QUALIFIES FOR A MINNESOTA PERMIT TO CARRY. The hands-on course will cover the following: • Legal aspects of owning, transporting, and using a firearm for self-defense • Tactics of self-defense • Proper Stance • Grip • Draw Stoke/Presentation/Reholstering • Sight Alignment/Sight Picture • Trigger Press • Reloading • Malfunctions • Firearms Safety Issues (range/home/on-off duty) • Ballistic Issues • Cleaning and maintenance Student Equipment Needed: • Handgun (revolver or semi-automatic) • Two speed loaders or three magazines & 300rds Ammunition • Concealment Garment (you will be working from concealment) • Holster with Thumb break (hip) “no shoulder rigs” • Hearing and Eye Protection CY6 Greg Sullivan "Sully" SLR15 Rifles TheDefensiveEdge.com |

BUMP TO TOP!!!!
Anybody else anxious to do this again? Or for their first time? This is Easter weekend but I am trying t make it. The Handgun 1 course in May is the fiancé's B-day weekend so we can't make it then either. I will be away with Army training in June. I hate to wait for July or August. However, the fiancée will be attending one of these with me!!!! Also, is there any interest in the Urban Combatics course(Another thread). |

Flattop
I'll be seeing you at the combatives course, but not the HG1. Sully/Defensive Edge are the best resource those of us interested in the tactical arts have in MN, I'll be laughing at all the people that didn't sign up for UC1 for whatever reason, but are dying to UC3 later this year. I learned my lesson last year with Urban and Team Tactics. If you don't sign up for 1 you can't take 2 and you'll be missing out for sure––-you are never too good for a level one basics class, especially if it allows you to progress to the next level––-Urban 2 was one of the best DE classes I've taken (not including small team tactics––-kick ass day one the range with explosives and group therapy guns) sully––-the tactical sammy girl is already planning new masterpieces for this season...don't worry same bread as last year |

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Is there an alumni rate? Due to recent disappointing turnout among many Defensive Edge alumni, the alumni rates have been discontinued. Still, compared to similar courses offered around the US, Sully's classes are still cheaper at full price. That sucks. I noticed the price went up too. |

Class is cancelled due to lack of interest.

Shoot!
I just cleared enough off my desk to sign up for this one. Dad was going to make it as well, since I could get away for the weekend. I'll be there for the next one and should be signing up for UC1 within the next day or so. Sully, I'm sorry that I couldn't get rid of projects earlier to know that I could register more than a few days in advance. I'm looking forward to a lot of training time this year, and I need to talk to you about a few projects this summer. Thanks for offering such good training to us here in Minnesota. I'll see you at the range sometime soon. |

I will bet that did not help with getting those alumni back. |

I will bet that did not help with getting those alumni back. Well, it goes both ways...The prices Sully offered and IS offering are well below market as they are. People got pretty spoiled. Spoiled on low prices but at those low prices the Alumni turnout was dissapointing. Does not compute... I do agree that his prices are well below market value and having taken 3 of Sullys classes I have learned a lot. Even with the below market pricing everybody is worried about money right now and I am sure that is not helping class turnout. |
