Hey guys and gals, I know some of you love to beat dead horses....and sometimes well a subject needs to be covered...again ad nauseum! UFDA! But, if you are going bitch have a solution not perpetuate the freaking problem! Well, take for exampe shooting ranges.....some of you have such warped senses of reality that it totally boggles the mind! But recently shooting ranges comes to mind! Safety is job #1 #1 Since we lost Dakotah there are three indoor ranges int the metro...Metro (yuck in my estimation), Bill's North/South, and Burnsville. And, there is Inrange in Monti. So you can quit your bitching there is nothing that is going to change! There is always the Braamar range on Saturdays in Edina...... #2 Since loosing Moon Valley (about 4-5 years ago) there is no public range in the metro. Okay OGC has public hours, and other ranges have Deer Rifle Sight days! But, no open shooting places. #3 Now, there are plenty of clubs.......some you guys have to put effort into joining.....ie getting on the waiting list. Ah! that does not take effort make a call or send a letter. A lot the clubs with nice facilities are geared towards competition shooters......GRRC, North Star, ERGC, MRC, along with MG&F. But, let's review the facts here....Chicken Daddy is muck in the GRRC and made reference to open memberships....NBot jumped through the hoops! Nbot jumped through the hoops to join MRC, all this year follks! So do not tell me about waiting lists.....yeah they exist........ There are plenty of other clubs that have openings each year...Beaverbrook, OGC, and Bald Eagle but you have to be quick. I know there was movement on the waiting list of Dakota County this spring and supposedly it was 80, but I heard it was only about 60. And, Minnetonka Sportsmans Club in Mound voted to add 50 memberships in the spring so there is going to movement on their list. There are some clubs west of the metro that have no realy lists but could be spendy to join...some not so much..... There are places like Rainbow Sportsman that are nice little clubs with nice facilities for no work hours and only 40$ membership. There are clubs at Delano and such...Heck there is always DelTone or Westbranch.... Others have posted state forest range locations There are clubs to the south......like Fairbault that has 600yd range.....think the Richfield Post 435 is sort in trouble with some errant bullets thanks to some genius. There is always Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club..... Oh yeah it takes some effort on your part to join club! So, either you pay the piper....or you can sit and spin. Observations from the three clubs I have memberships at....One with supposedly 450 members......is mainly a ghost town in the spring and summer, it picks up a little in the fall and such. One with 300 members well that is about the same as the first one....mainly a ghost town in the summer...except for Trap league on mondays! And, the third....well it is pretty much the same till deer hunting season... |

Quoted: Alrighty then. People have to understand that shooting ranges are not meant for the super duper shooter. They are run so that lowest skilled person can understand! People bitcch about ranges when the solution is pretty easy. Fork over the money and build and run your own, oh yeah that might require effort. Take the time to get on wating lists! Once there expect put in your time with work hours....Some gun owners are such flighty people. They want and want but never want pay the admission price to the dance! So, either get on a list for membership, abide by the rules of public ranges, or just in the immortal words of Archie Bunker "Stiffle"! |
