When the U. S. Supreme Court decided that the Second Amendment has a real meaning, the role of judges in enforcing the Constitution and laws became crucial to protecting your right to own and use a gun.

If you live in Ramsey County (or know other gun owners who do), it is essential to get the biggest turnout possible for the September 9th judicial primary election to fill one particular judgeship.

Make sure Minnesota's # 1 anti-gun Legislator, former state Representative Howard Orenstein (DFL-St. Paul) doesn't get elected to a judgeship this Fall. Howard authored several assault weapon ban bills, a gun registration bill, a gun forfeiture amendment, and numerous other amendments to increase the hassle of owning guns. Some passed; most didn't; but Howard Orenstein never gave up trying to punish Minnesota's responsible gun owners for society's ills. He proudly worked to earn his 12-year straight "F" rating from all Minnesota gun groups and the NRA. Even after he left politics, Howard continued to lead the anti-gun side. He founded Minnesota's anti-gun lobbying group, Citizens for a Safer Minnesota and as its President he got a $1/2 million grant (from an out-of-state- foundation) to seek more restrictive laws.

For almost three decades Howard has dedicated himself to the anti-gun crusade. He is too much of an ideological advocate ever to be a fair judge.

Don't forget, get even in the low-turnout September 9th primary election.

If your last name starts with A through M, vote for Paul Godfrey. Paul is not an anti-gun politician but is a gun owner and a good lawyer and will be a sound judge.

If your last name starts with N through Z, vote for Gail Chang-Bohr. Gail is not an anti-gun politician but is a good lawyer and will be a sound judge.

Because the September 9th election is a primary, two other candidates have to get more votes than Howard. That's why we are asking you to vote for one of these two excellent candidates. Otherwise former Rep. Orenstein will get onto the general election ballot and likely win in a DFL-dominated county like Ramsey. Bring another gun owner to the primary and increase the impact of your visit!

this concludes the monthly PSA, please return to eating cheesy poofs, and playing pretty pretty princess with clyde frog. thank you.

I think it is a joint effort between the NRA, MN CCRN/GOCRA. I first saw this message posted yesterday by Prof. Joe Olson.

Beyond Orenstein's own anti-RKBA stance there is his wife, who works for the UN.

THE U.N. HAS appointed University of Minnesota Professor Barbara Frey (Orenstein) as its “Special Rapporteur on the prevention of human rights violations committed with small arms and light weapons.” A “Special Rapporteur” is a U.N.-designated expert and researcher on a subject.

Notably, the title the U.N. gave to Frey required her to look exclusively at how small arms are used to violate human rights—and to ignore how small arms are used to protect human rights, such as when used to resist genocide. But the one-sided nature of Frey’s research mission was consistent with her own views; Frey is a member of IANSA and participated in a 2005 strategy meeting in Brazil designed to support the gun prohibition referendum in that nation.

On July 27, 2006 Frey issued her final report, declaring that there is no human right to self-defense and that insufficient gun control is a violation of human rights. (The report, “Prevention of human rights violations committed with small arms and light weapons,” is available on IANSA’s website, www.iansa.org/un/documents/salw_hr_report_2006.pdf.)

On Aug. 21, the U.N. Human Rights Council's Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights endorsed the Frey report in total and recommended that the full Human Rights Council (HRC) do so.
