Shot into a row of gallon water jugs, not the most scientific test, but gives a good idea. When I get some more time I have some 165 and 230 grain Federal Hydra Shok to try. ![]() Glad you guys like the pics |

Ok, I'll play too. It's not a .45, but I thought it was cool. This is a .40 cal Tactical Hydrashock, I cant find the box so I am unsure of the grain. I had four or five, 1 gallon milk jugs lined up against each other. I can't remember how far back I was standing but I would guess at least twenty feet. The bullet went through all except the last, which it stuck into, hanging on by the little nipple on the end. There was no leaking until I pulled the bullet out and water just started to pee out. I wish I had a camera to get a pick right after it happened. I don't think I could even replicate that scenario again.

I think clearly the the best deal is getting the Federal stuff from Streichers. They have 50 ct boxes for what a fellow pays for 20ct boxes! Why buy anything else! All the testing in the world is negated by the fact that real world shootings are dynamic. One can not always count of target standing still, nor having solid COM shots. Look at us now as we bundle up for the winter here in MN! I personally have seen failure of bullets when caught up in the heavy leather coats people wear in the winter, the rounds were fired at PB range! They gave the guy nothing more then a welt like getting shot while wearing a ballistic resistant vest! Then again I have seen HS drop a guy dead in his tracks! DRT! The bullet shredded his left ventricle. Poor fellow, NOT! Then I saw the same bullet in seperate situation cause nothing more then a through and through wound that did not stop the guy, but it did allow the LEO to subdue the victim. Go with function in a firearm, and then hope for the expansion of name brand bullet! |
