is it just me, or are these people running for congress / senate or WTF ever......... ONLY displaying commercials BASHING the opponents? back in they day, they use to be like "Mark Blahblahblah once saved a kitten from a burning meth house right before it exploded" to pump up their image, now they spend more money trashing other campaigns, and thats their only agenda... to knock down the other guy its not working for me... its just making them look like 15 year olds in a highschool, rather than the type of people i want making laws in my state |

That’s the result of our two party system. The bar has been lowered to 'better than the other one' rather than 'good for you and the state'. Also from what I've read the negative ads are being pushed lately because it's belived that less intelligent people understand them better than positive ads. So every time I see a negative ad I just remember how stupid they think we are. |
So, if it were clear that someone was pro-gun, why wouldn't you vote for them? I understand your frustration, but you'd better vote for those who will protect your rights, not just against those who would take them away. Gun-grabbers are not always so conspicuous. Get out and vote. You can gargle and take a shower when you get home and you'll be good as new. |
well, is someone WAS pro gun, i WOULD vote for them... otherwise i wouldnt be on ARFcom its just such a crock of shit, they seem to only change tax laws that benifit their friends ( people in their income range ) and the need to make NEW laws, why not USE the current laws we already have? i had an uncle who got sentenced to 12 years for tax evasion, he did what he did, i am NOT defending him.... he had cell mates that were in for murder who were in and out in less time than him... he died there from cancer. just doesnt make sense, you cheat your taxes and get over a decade, you KILL someone and get half that time... i guess John Kerry sold a bunch of over-seas mansions just before he entered the presidential race, just so he appeared to be "more american" and "for the working class" |

if you do not vote out of frustration (I understand the frustration), then you are in fact supporting the left's agenda. If that is ok with you, then either vote for the left candidates or don't vote at all. It will be the same thing. Whoever controls the house will control less obvious things like which judges get appointed, what agenda and bills are brought to vote (like gun control), who we trade with and what restrictions are put in place, and much more. If you want judges who will override voters and make laws on their own agenda, then by all means don't vote. If you want to give the gun-control groups momentum and more of a voice, then by all means don't vote. If you want to send messages to the international community and the terrorists that we are a paper tiger and don't have the fortitude as a nation to withstand the needed commitments to hold off threats to our way of life don't vote. If you want us to become more France like, overrun with immigrants that want to impose their way of life on us don't vote. This is not really a matter of choosing the lesser of two evils. I think there are clear differences in the parties. The left's strategy is to drive a wedge in the right's base and create a lot of dis-enchanted voters. They have done a very good job at it and the right has been horrible in responding to this strategy. There are a lot of things that I don't like about the political process on both sides. I am not a blind party loyalist. However I recognize what is important to me and who better represents what I believe is important. Not everything in the party that I support agenda benefits me. Some things hurt me and what I believe in. Many of the candidates I am going to vote for support spending too much of my tax dollars, support issues that I don't believe in, and are influenced by lobbyists that I don't like. Still, I know what is most important to me and who can do a better job keeping these issues at focus. I have sat down and taken a hard look at the solutions the other candidates support and many of them are really concerning and are will not only hurt me but hurt my country. Think about what is important to you and know that if you don't vote then you are supporting the issues of whatever group has momentum. You can watch the news or look at the polling data to figure out who has momentum. If that group better represents your core values then feel free to skip, but you might as well vote for them to show your support and as part of your civic duty. It doesn't cost anything to vote but our ancestors have paid an unmeasurable price to give that gift to us. Honor them. |

The reason there are so many attack ads are: 1) the cannidate running the ads is behind. Look at Kennedy vs. Klobochar. 2) the election is so close. Take the Bachmann v. Wetterling race. It's about 45% to 45%. Of these 90%, no one is going to believe the attack ads on both sides. BUT, the people who decide who they are going to vote for the night before, it may influence them. The key here is not only to vote, but to get involved. Very few people decide who goes on the ballot. In my district, 120 people (delegates) decided who will be the Rebublican choice for our state rep. For the DFL is was something like 80 delegates. Around 25,000 people voted in my district in the last election. 8/10 of 1% made the decision for 25,000 people. And guess what? It took very little of my time, yet I can call my rep at any time. If anyone has any questions on how to get more involved, PM me. But start by voting. Here's something that may change your mind: http://dillonprecision.com/vote.cfm?dyn=1&cookieClean=1 |
Made it hot, ROOKIE! |
| I know as well as anyone how frustrating it can be. I spent quite a bit of time at the capitol trying to get through to these folks. The Senator in my district does not think we should be able to own a firearm and he was in the running for Governor. Look at the facts however. We have made a difference. If you would have told me 5 years ago we would have a carry bill in Minnesota I would have said you were insane but we did it, twice! If we can keep a majority we can continue to push legislation and make changes. There are some very interesting bills floating if we can keep the momentum. If we sit on our asses we will loose the rights so many people worked so hard for. I do not want to loose the right to protect my family again. |

13 Reasons to vote Republican on Nov. 7 Eight reasons conservatives must vote on November 7th and for an opposing view www.democraticunderground.com |

I've always thought that if people bought the stuff in the ads, they don't deserve to vote and ought to be disenfranchised. The ads are entertainment for me and nothing more as I am able to spot every half-truth and distortion or possible applications of the benefit of the doubt. The American people are generally stupid, cannot think for themselves but for that which they are told to think, and are wholly unworthy of the blessings of liberty given them. |

Those that know me know I went through the process of becoming an American citizen a couple years ago. The *ONLY* reason I did it is for the right to vote. I started the process before the 2004 election, because I thought I could get it done in time to vote. Unfortunely the INS/DHS/ICE is a bunch of slow moving government beaurocrats and I didn't get naturalized until about 6 months after the election. Anyway, I had to go through significant trouble to be able to vote, and you can be damn sure I will take that opportunity every chance I get. Not only does my vote count in important national elections, but the local elections have just as big if not bigger impact on my life, and there are far less voters. Most of you here were born in this country, and therefore have the right to vote the day you turn 18. Just because it seems automatic and a "freebie" you shouldn't treat it as such. Many people have fought and died to protect your freedom to elect the people that govern you. Take advantage of that and do it. Look back at the last 4 years of your life. You will see markers through your entire daily grind that are effected by the people that govern you. The people that you have the chance to elect. For example, here is just a short list of things that are affected in my life: - I have a job. My company is small, and while we're in the black, we're not in the black by much. If we had a government that was taxing small businesses more, our company would probably be in the red, cease to exist, and I would be out of a job. - I own my own home. Lower interest rates made it possible for many of the people that were renting before to get into their own home because of low interest rates. Those interest rates didn't get to be that low on their own. Elected officials (and appointed officials appointed by those elected officials) control the prime rate, and just about EVERY other influence that controls how well the economy is doing. - I carry a Glock with more than 10 rounds. Good thing the gun grabbers weren't in control when the AWB expired. Good thing our state government finally passed shall issue. - My neighborhood is getting city sewer and water. Some residents need it. Most don't, yet. Through elections at the local level my neighbors (and soon myself) have been able to put the brakes on the Met Councils idea of turning Dayton into Maple Grove 2 by dense urbanization. This is in part due to the city councils due diligence in determining what the overall effect of putting city services everywhere would be. - I can afford to drive newer vehicles. This is because the government isn't taking as much as the democrats would like to and hand it out to other people. The taxes you pay are directly affected by who is governing you. It makes a HUGE difference in day to day life. In short, vote. I would prefer you do the research on your own and find which candidates match your interest most. But if you don't want to do that, a straight republican ticket would probably serve your gun interests better than staying home and not voting at all. |
Please, tell us how you really think. Sounds like a good Al-Qaida recruiting statement. ![]() I believe I've met many people on this board, even this thread who prove your statement is incorrect. In fact, it's that kind of elitism that drives most Democrats to try to make those decisions for you. After all, they are smarter than us. Dude, maybe you should take a trip over to the Mid-east with boonie and SGT. Maybe you might change your mind. |
People over here risk their lives to vote.... ...I hate politics, but frustration is not an excuse for me anymore. If you believe Amercians to be stupid, educate them on the issues or quit crying about it. I applaude a few members here that really seem to be involved, they're better men than me for putting up with the extra blood pressure. If you believe them unworthy of liberty...thats your opinion, fine. I care not for your opinion, and luckily it does not inhibit those stupid unworthy individual's rights to vote. ok, rant over, time to go to work - later Booniehat |
Unfortunately it is looking good for the libs as usuall. The collage kids are all lib theese days it seems. |

Perhaps I should provide more context to my statements, lest I be accused to making an al Qaida recruiting brochure... So many are motivated by greedy self-interest, the type that becomes a soul-eating, persona ruining force. When it comes to civic matters then, it's clear that they don't know the Constitution and therefore aren't nearly as interested in defending it as they are in getting things from the government that, constitutionally, the government has no business providing and the citizenry has no business receiving. So many are on the take in this way that anyone who stands up and tells them "no", thus ADHERING to the Constitution, is virtually assured a one-way ticket out of whatever governmental post they hold. Democracy is an inferior system because it can be bribed, yet I hear people like Pres. Bush say again and again how it's this cure all panacea. The same talk goes on elsewhere in our society, even though the founders of this country sought to undermine and debauch democracy to some degree, knowing the pifalls that we now see being allowed to ruin us. Then I read the letters to the editor section in the newspaper and see people spouting off all the uninformed nonsense that I can take in a day. The words come from those who do not know, do not think, but guess and feel with opinion that I've heard a hundred times before. All of it just so someone can wield power...for the wrong reasons. It seems like that only reason to elect someone is because they will oppress some group that you don't like. The news page is no better than the opion page. There is nearly daily contradiction with no rhyme or reason. There are times when an article saying one thing is opposed by another saying the exact opposite on the very same day. And people read this stuff and believe it! There, maybe I've clarified my position. |
I hate you. That sounds far better than my day is going to be. |
