You have over 1,000 posts.  Do you think this Christmas might be a good time to buy an AR15.com membership for $25?  I'll bet your wife would do it for you if you asked nicely.  Besides, $25 is like half a Colt 9mm mag for your SBR Carbine...

Not much really... you are just helping the guy who runs the board make the bills.....
I have to imagine that this level of bandwidth is crazy expensive.

I am perplexed as to why you think how I choose to spend my money is any of your business?

If someone chooses to use this, or any other service, in accordince with the terms of the service provider, that would seem to be an issue between those two parties, and not you.

Many years ago, during the ancient times of dial up modem BBSes, I used to run a multiline system of my own.  Some people paid, some people didn't.  Those that did, great, those that didn't well that was great too.  It really didn't matter to me, and I didn't feel the need to initiate any sort of class of users because of it.

Have a Merry Christmas.

The useful tools I've found so far include:
-"tag" threads to make them eaiser to find later (I really like this one)
-the search function is much better
-access to arcives
-not nessarily a tool, but I think people are more trusting of team memebers w/ low post counts on the EE than members w/ low post counts - YMMV
-the "team member" fourm isn't that exciting, but you do have access

That's about all I can think of right now. If you use the site as a serious information resource, and buy and sell a few things, it may make keeping track of everything eaiser for you.

Plus, I Cant think of a better way to support a pro-gun site than a small donation.  We all get a lot of information from here.  It's a good resource.

Glad to see you ponied up, mnandy!

My Active Topics,  and the full search and archive is what did it for me.  I let mine lapse and couldn't stand how the board is with out those features.

Oh and some of the threads in the Team Forum are pretty entertaining.

mcnielsen,

Please keep the $25, if I really wanted an ARFcom membership, I would certainly buy one.

We all use millions of free services everyday for which none of us can afford to contribute to all of them.  (How many Team Members use Firefox to surf ARFcom and have donated to the Mozilla foundation? (If ARFcom ever decided to Opensource their forum code, a philosophy I strongly believe in, I would become a Team Member in an instant)).

If some people want to think "members" are less than "team members", then that's an issue for them to deal with.

I've only been a "team member" for 3 days now, so I haven't found anything greatly entertaining in the team forum.

Back40 - I'm not trying to push you to buy a team membership. I found somewhere in the "site mission statement" or CoC or some place that the people running this site don't want to pressure anyone into a membership, and I think that is a great policy. Either way, anything for free is a great value, I just decided to see if the extra features were worth the $25.

UPDATE

Everybody, just so you all understand, back40 and I are friends and I'm just razzing him a little as a non-team member to try and generate some interest in membership.  My goal wasn't to piss him off by any means or to put him in a bad light.  I just saw a lot of non team members posting recently and thought it might be a good way of drumming up some interest in joining up, nothing else.  Perhaps I went about it the wrong way by throwing him in front of the bus.  Not my intent.

So, mnandy expressed why he joined up.  Why not support a pro-gun site and join if you're not  a member?

How many of you team members are NRA members?  Myself and two of my three children are life members.  The third will be when it gets closer to election time.

who ever decided that "post count" was the equal to AR-15 knowledge or if someone has a lot of posts they must be more "legit" than another?  I say this because one time on the general fourm a guy posted a very legit response to another member and everyone jumped on him as being a newbie, rookie, loser,  because he only had one post.  Maybe the guy has fought in every war since the civil war but since he only had one post in the very arm chair commando AR-15.com he didn't know shit.

Just my .02.  Not pointed at anyone specificly.

NRA Life member since 01, but yearly member before that (I had to save up).  Also a member of a few other Pro-gun organizations, as well as volunteer for youth organizations and youth training.

And I've managed all that while keeping my post count relatively low!  Everyone helps out in their own way.
